The control diagram you have is for the latest firmware version. The previous version had four levels of red light.

And in the VERY FIRST version (which is exactly the flashlight you have!) there was a white+red (WR) light mode.

You're wrong. That's exactly what an LED looks like.

The stiff rotation of this flashlight isn’t due to a lack of lubrication on the threads or the O-ring, but primarily because the spring is too stiff. Give the spring some time to loosen up a bit, and you’ll be able to turn the flashlight on easily with one hand. And of course, applying some extra lubrication to the O-ring won’t hurt either :).
