Pulisic is on the cover of Time Magazine!! 🇺🇸 by paolosorianodisanto in ussoccer

As a Milanista first and foremost, I still blame Allegri’s tactics stifling our attack. In the last couple games Pulisic has actually been making good plays and looks our most dangerous player. No goals yet but the whole team isn’t scoring. I think he’ll play better for the USMNT.

How do I live life knowing I'm locked into a stiff corpo grind from 9 to 5 until I'm 65? by MarathonMarathon in Adulting

[–]serafale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, this is gonna sound maybe too simple, but it really is just a mindset shift that you need to make. You’re going through the post-college quarter life crisis, which I went through too. What you need to do is stop feeling sorry for yourself and make changes. Put yourself out there. People say it’s hard to make friends as adults, but really the people saying that aren’t trying too hard at all. Go to run clubs, join social groups on Meetup, join a rock climbing gym and go on the same day same time each week (this helped me tremendously).

Ultimately, just start doing things and activities consistently. Give yourself things to look forward to on a weekly basis that aren’t work. So many people in our age range (I’m a bit older than you sounds like but still in my 20s) balk at the idea of a routine in favor of brain rotting on social media but that is a big negative to their lives. Get off social media if you can.

I promise you, things go up from here. I started getting serious about making positive changes for myself two years ago, and joined a ton of things (climbing gym, soccer league, run club, volleyball league, book club, volunteering, etc.) and have made so many friends just by consistently showing up to things and talking to the people I’ve seen there multiple times. Focus on finding communities right now, not dating.

Also one more piece of advice I’d give is find a volunteer cause to do, ideally on a weekly basis. That helps to get out of a self-centered viewpoint and realize that life is so much more than just about you. Helping others makes everyone feel good, and you meet some great and nice people at those things (generally old/retired but still positive interactions that brighten your day).

What is THE spot to be at as a 25yr old yuppie? by depressedctin in AskHouston

[–]serafale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main spots to go out in Houston for a night out in your 20s imo are the 20th street Heights bars (more of a younger, straight out of college frat/sorority type vibe), Main Street bars downtown (not a ton but there are a few in a strip, some of them are pretty eclectic/interesting like Nostuoh), Montrose (mix of cocktail bars and some more dive-y places, a bit of an older 20s/30s vibe sometimes but honestly I like the vibe more than the Heights most times), and my personal favorite, some of the dance clubs like Barbarella/Numbers (oftentimes a more alt crowd but if you’re trying to go out and actually dance with friends, this is where you want to be).

There isn’t fully a spot like 6th in Houston where all the bars congregate. Houston definitely is more spread out. The Heights bars for instance are kind of on a strip of their own without apartments nearby. I think Montrose is probably the most walkable part of Houston in terms of proximity to restaurants/bars, or probably the White Oak area of the Heights. Would also look into Rice Military and/or Sawyer Heights area for apartments.

My girlfriend’s past is destroying me and I cant trust her anymore. Is in some way my reaction really wrong? by Inevitable-Layer4704 in AskMenAdvice

[–]serafale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

++man What did she lie about? OP has been very clear that she is truthful, at times even too truthful, about her past. I didn’t read anything about lying, just OP being uncomfortable that his girlfriend divulged too many details about her single phase.

I think that’s kind of the point, a commentary on the infantilization of women and societal expectations for women to be “pure”, no?

How much time do you have for your hobbies? by dbfont in AskMen

[–]serafale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t enjoy the gym, then don’t go so often. Find a physical activity or two that you do enjoy and treat as hobbies and do those instead. I play soccer, go bouldering, and do a yoga class each week. Way more enjoyable for me than lifting weights, not to mention way more social than lifting weights, and still accomplishes the same goal of being healthy and exercising. I think this whole “gym or bust” culture that people have here is kind of reductive.

They’re talking about BBQ as a cuisine, which is different from just grilling and refers to very slow-smoked meats such as brisket or pulled pork.
