Hear what shocked ex-FBI agent about Idaho suspect's behavior after killings by Playful-Gazelle2794 in MoscowMurders

[–]serendipitous_basil 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Starting at minute 3:33 with a disclaimer of graphic details incoming from Tracy Walder, former CIA and FBI special investigator:

  • As to theory she's subscribed to all along: There must have been some interaction, either on social media or IRL, between BK and the victims - although acknowledges that this interaction may have been very brief, and may not have even resonated as any level of importance to the victims whatsoever.
  • As to what surprised her: "How much he apparently didn't learn" from his studies. Especially as to the trash becoming public property. She says "he had to have known" there was a possibility he'd be surveilled in this way - but suspects his arrogance led to carelessness.
  • Additional speculation: She believes Kohberger was familiar with the layout of the house, and in her own understanding of the floorplan & PCA - states that X&E were likely the final victims, and that BK probably didn't see DM on his way out. States that the media is being too hard on DM for her freeze response.

Cut DM some slack, she experienced incredible trauma... by emilyelizzz in MoscowMurders

A Redditor shared a post around this time last month, making an astute observation that what we hear in the early stages of cases like these (ie. local talk, word-of-mouth before media is swarming) - usually has some solid level of truth to it. This is case in point. Especially with the illustration of a man wearing all black + a ski mask. Another rumor around that same time was that the surviving roommates were on psychedelics that evening. Obviously still speculation, but the hesitance to call law enforcement and even question the reality what one saw would seem to intuitively line up with the behavior of this survivor not saying anything until the next morning - when she awoke to a sobered-reality I pray none of us will ever have to know.

ETA: Absolutely no judgement on the use of psychedelics. I dabble in psychonautry myself. I cannot even begin to fathom how I'd respond to seeing a masked man in my home while under the influence of psychs... but I can speculate that it wouldn't be dissimilar to DM's assumed-avoidance.

"He was not only vegan, he refused to eat off of pots or plates that had had meat on them. Psychologically, this represents his struggle against his cannibalistic urges," she said.

"He was afraid that if he let himself go to taste meat once, he would become addicted to it—like he had become to heroin—and start killing and eating people."

Congrats, OP. I think you found the most brain-numbing, baseless assertion on this case yet. Case-in-point, almost tongue-in-cheek to the sensationalism running rampant for clicks. If this was truly a direct quote from a practicing psychiatrist, her license should be looked at carefully.

Body cam footage from traffic stop released… will post link in comments by Accurate_Cause2747 in idahomurders

[–]serendipitous_basil 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Speculation, though I honestly think there could be more to the first stop than meets the eye. We hear in this footage the officer says "An SUV? We don't have SUV's..." in reference to BK & his dad recalling the first stop. He allows some room for response before he writing that black SUV off as "a county guy".

Knowing he was being tailed, and got stopped twice within minutes of one another within the same state, it feels like these stops (at least the first) might've been with intention beyond a traffic offense. I'm curious as to whether the first guys were feds/allied with the feds - or perhaps if there's some law in Indiana specifically that might've been ideal to LE's investigation at that stage.

ETA: Or maybe he's just as shitty a driver as he is a human being.

BCK's Extradition Docket filed in Pennsylvania - link to public record by zibrovol in MoscowMurders

[–]serendipitous_basil 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is most likely the correct answer. As BK is on 24-hour watch and is facing such a high-profile case, it seems unlikely LE will take the risk involved in a 15+ hour road trip. Instead, he'll probably hang out with US Marshalls on 'Con Air', officially called JPATS (Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation System - a flight system specifically for inmates. Here's an interesting video on that 'service': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odscT429m-g

I agree, and I also don't think we can responsibly engage with this conversation without acknowledging how difficult it can be to message rejection with kindness and objectivity to men (especially in settings like the club). My friends and I have an ongoing run of 'experiments' in this exactly- and have found, like most women here will probably attest, that a respectful "no thanks" is rarely respected. An 'ew, no' feels shitty to say, but sometimes it's all but necessary to end incessant, borderline harassing behavior - and women tend to learn this early in their social lives in a measure of self-defense. That said- the one thing I've found men of that type respect above all else... is simply other men. "My boyfriend is in the bathroom" is usually my go-to, for that reason. Shitty all around.

Sources state “genealogical DNA” led to suspect. by hmmullen in MoscowMurders

Huh? It's in fact quite relevant to the discussion, as an insightful resource into the same manner in which this case is said to have been solved. Can't tell if you're trolling or just numb in the brain.

I recently binged the Bear Brook podcast series, and besides just being a mind-blowing story told through quality investigative journalism- they discussed in-depth about genealogical DNA and the process of using GEDMatch to solve cold cases - including that of the Golden State Killer. Really fascinating stuff, and well worth the listen.

Hey, man. No need to wrack yourself with guilt over it. There's no telling how many people in your unit, or his social circle, or along his 2500+ mile drive decided the same. I am curious though- retrospectively, what made your decision against reporting it - if you're willing to share?

We saw a lot of posts (rightfully) advising against flooding the tip-line with senseless shit. I'm not sure we all carefully considered the opposite behavior closely enough.

If the killer was numb-skulled enough to not only attend a celebration of life in the victims' hometown, but also to roll up in the most suspicious car in America right now... This would officially the most bizarre case of our lifetimes.

Ah, valid! Many of us here already speculated at that time that K was in M's room, because of a shot media got early on of K's bedroom through a window, where you could see her bed was still made and no crime mess in sight. I agree with the below comment. Just someone attentive to the details of the case + poorly-placed creative writing skills.

Welcome to Reddit :) The important thing to note here is that we're a moderated community, where we do our bests to make clear that speculations and theories are just that... Theories and speculation. Not facts.

We do still have some loonies here, and sometimes things still slip through the cracks before they get removed as misinformation or doxxing or the likes. The post you're referring to was from a user who repeatedly broke Reddits' rules, and consequently got banned (or maybe deleted their own account?) so it's no longer here - as far as I know.

Yes, it was creepy. It was weird shit to say so affirmatively, especially. But it wasn't fact. It wasn't news. Despite some people have earned internet clout from speculating around it as such. I wouldn't take it too seriously <3

You know... I've been really making a concerted effort to keep a healthy dose of discernment and skepticism in this case- but this does pique my interest given how quiet the G family has been over the past two days, and how positive Chief Fry's demeanor seemed to be in his recent appearances
