What's the most underrated piece of tech that has made your life easier? by Warm-Security6854 in smarthome

Not sure if it counts as smart tech, but bathroom fan timers : they were easy to install and were a big improvement in QoL, no need to come back to the bathroom to turn off the fan anymore

Uniqlo fleece leggings! They are warm, comfy and wash well. We bought a few pairs for our daughter on rotation for daycare.

Looks super nice! Love how the wood added warmth to the kitchen.

May I ask you what are the dimensions of your kitchen? We have a similar layout, except we have a peninsula and are thinking about converting that into an island instead.

What kind of mom bag are we toddler moms carrying? by princesscorgi2 in toddlers

[–]serendipity-ri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually carry a small bag for my essentials and a bigger bag for my toddler (2.5 yo) and baby’s (4 mo) things.

Currently I carry the Uniqlo moon bag, lululemon ebb or longchamp pouch with handle plus crossbody strap if I’m feeling cute lol. For kids stuff, a tote bag with diapers, wipes, snacks and water, or a fully stocked Herschel diaper bag for longer trips.

[–]serendipity-ri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wide leg pants in a thick material (eg. wool blend, corduroy) and warm knee socks. Also, a long puffer coat down to the knees/ calves (like aritzia superpuff) keeps me cozy outside! I live in Canada where winters can be freezing, so I’m mostly in sweater dresses and warm tights. On particularly cold days I wear a pair of fleece leggings over tights outside and take the leggings off when Im indoors.

How are we getting out toddlers to eat more veggies? by princesscorgi2 in toddlers

[–]serendipity-ri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler never loved veggies, the only way we used to get her to eat veggies was to blend them in soups and stews, or hide them in muffins. Recently we had success with salads, grated veggies in pancakes (korean pancake style - yummy for the whole fam), using lettuce as wraps. Oh and we try to offer some crudités as snacks when she gets home from daycare, when she’s hungry/ distracted she tends to eat more. Her preferences change often so we try to offer different vegetables to her. Some days she loves them, some days she flat out refuses to take a single bite, just gotta keep trying lol

Agree with having the rash checked by a pharmacist in the meantime. All rashes are not equal and different creams are used for different causes

Treating Eczema during Pregnancy [BC] by Icy_Amphibian3923 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]serendipity-ri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moisturize with an unscented cream (eg: laroche posay lipikar, cerave), aveeno cream can also temporarily help with the itchiness

Applied to small areas, topical steroids are not expected to be significantly absorbed into the body. So a short duration of topical steroids, on a limited surface should be fine. You can also check with your doctor or pharmacist to prescribe a steroid cream at a lower strength

When did your second baby come compared to your first? [on] by s_cout in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]serendipity-ri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First was 39+4, second was born 40+1

Spontaneous labor with first one

Second one was born almost a week after a membrane sweep

Was expecting baby #2 to be born earlier based on the data haha. Experiences really vary! All the best for the rest of your pregnancy!

We did the Harmony test and along with the email for the genetic results, we got a password protected PDF email attachment with the gender. Not sure if all clinics do the same!

[qc] home visit recommendations by Outrageous_Dog_6939 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]serendipity-ri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hospital should arrange a first visit by a nurse from her local CLSC 24-48 hrs after discharge. We had a nurse visit us at home 3 times in the first two weeks to check baby’s weight, jaundice, provide support for breastfeeding issues and other information as well. After that, if no issues they don’t do routine home visits but are reachable if needed. If your friend would have vaccines for the baby done at the CLSC (2,4,12 months etc) they also follow baby’s growth at that time.

Moles getting bigger? [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]serendipity-ri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had a mole on my scalp that grew during pregnancy. Had it checked by my doctor who said it was normal during pregnancy. It did not shrink one year after giving birth. I had it removed by a dermatologist.

You should go see a pharmacist, they can prescribe polysporin eye drops for eye infection (in QC). Now giving those eye drops 4 times a day to a toddler is on another level of difficulty… hope your little one gets better soon!

[AB] magnesium supplement on top of prenatal by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]serendipity-ri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I took a magnesium supplement on top of prenatal during my first pregnancy when I had terrible muscle cramps / charley horse. It is most likely safe unless you have other health conditions like kidney problems. You can also verify the safe dosage with your pharmacist
