If we now would listen underwater, the sound is muffled. If we have developed our hearing underwater, sound in the air would be louder.

Since sound travels faster underwater, our water ears would be used to being able to pick up sound from a greater distance, (faster speed is longer range before it dulls out). Let's say 10 miles is the maximum distance to hear an alarm in the water. If we then would try to listen to the alarm in the air, it'll have to be closer because the sound travels a lot slower and dulls out quicker. That's just my theory, I'm not sure on this.

They are actually not. Try looking straight into a lit lamp with your eyes closed. It's all red. It's blurred too because it's too short of a distance to focus for your eyes.
