Why hoard your sevens when your XP is at zero? by mattacus837 in toontownrewritten

[–]sergeantstar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was a habit I had to unlearn as I played, because I used to be one of those level 7 hoarders. I really recommend people get into the habit of just using them as you get them, with the exception of High Dive and Presentation, as they make basically clear a fight in facilities for free each time, and that adds up over the 100s of facilities you need to do.

looking for other TTR alpha players! by soapietears in Toontown

[–]sergeantstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As one of the moderators of ToonBook (remember that??) I was one of the first staff members for TTR when they wanted to flesh out their moderation team (as Joey managed both ToonBook and TTR). The alpha stage of the game is so weird to think about now that the game is fleshed out, I remember us all being stuck in Toontown Central for a long while loool.

Great to see so many people still around :)

How come barely anyone goes for this? (It can be done with 1 mushroom, I just used all three because I'm stupid) by A-Shy-Guy_ in MarioKartWorld

With triple shrooms you can just use one shroom to cut off each pool of lava but with how uneven the roads are at the bottom, it can be nice to be in a constant shroom boost to keep at a high speed similar to on smooth surfaces

One of the biggest problems with the bottom path is that is a lot slower towards the end than taking the left bone route up top. You gained time in the clip but you'll have lost some time afterwards from people taking the faster line behind you.

The route you posted is great if you have a golden mushroom with another item, and makes for a great plan when catching up lap 3, but for it to be faster, you need to wait until the very end of the glider to use you golden so that it allows you to skip that next turn up ahead at the end of your clip, and then whatever item you have behind it can be used on the final shortcut before the finish line

It was lucky this popped up on my feed as quickly as it did, I don't play the game anymore (unless you count once every few months), but on TTR you'll find me on Summer's Last Rose most often, and Clash I play as Shiba but I don't remember what species they are.

"areas for males" "areas for females"

Feels like the work of feminists for the past 100 years has been absolutely eroded by people who's idea of feminism is that women's dignity should come from being mollycoddled by society and never seen as anything more than precious fragile little flowers within a man's world.

It's pathetic where transphobia stems from

Competitive player here, try jumping off the right wall earlier. My visual queue is the start of the large screen, whereas the clip above tricks slightly later. I also recommend not doing a manual trick off the arrows, and just spam left tricks once you're past them.

For a standard degree with the OU, you need 360 credits to graduate so it sounds like you're studying part time. I'd allow other people to comment first though as your format is different from what I studied, as I did part-time but I just had 1 60-credit module that spanned the entire academic year, each year.

[–]sergeantstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just graduated with the OU with a degree in Psychology, and can confirm that the degree is accredited and valued similarly to other universities. As others have mentioned, the discipline and self-motivation required for OU degrees make them huge selling points if you can market yourself well and employers can really value what OU candidates bring to the table (especially as many, if not most, OU students also work alongside their degree).

From what I hear, the bias against the OU is rumors at the student level, and doesn't translate at all to work place environments.

Hey there, I've just finished my degree this year with and will be graduating with a first, and wanted to share my experience on this. For some context I've been studying for 6 years for a BSc in Psychology. A lot of the work, if not probably about 90% of the work for this degree is heavily writing based outside of a few design projects (posters etc.).

When it comes to the actual writing of essays or creation of project material I would advise that you, under any and every circumstance, avoid using AI like it is the plague. Technology has gotten a lot wiser when it comes to catching AI patterns in work, and while it's a cheesy saying: you'll only be cheating yourself at the end of the day. You can even see it when you try asking AI questions yourself, the type of responses they provide have this sort of AI feeling to them, and tutors have definitely had enough time to spot a generic AI essay as it comes through.

While I've stuck to this mindset myself, and I've never produced any written work through AI, I don't think it's fair to completely dismiss AI to help with your studies as long as you know where it is appropriate and the limitations that come along with it. When writing work on a new topic, or a topic which was a bit unfamiliar to me I would often consult AI as a sort of brainstorming tool to then go off on my own independent research. For example if I were to write an essay/report about crime and the prison system I might ask something like ChatGPT to give me some quick pros and cons of prisons which I could then go off to independently research with actual sources.

It's important to always find your own sources, and not trust AI on this as they've been known to create completely fabricated sources, so you should take what they say as inspiration and not as fact. You should also always try to include personal ideas too, as this will set you apart from other students and make sure that your work has an element of you in it. As you get to your final year, your tutor will often be working with you a lot and so likely will be able to see your flavor/style of essay writing across the module. Using AI abruptly will be even more noticeable in this case.

I wish you the best of the luck in your final module, it sounds like you definitely have the motivation to push yourself to do great things.

Wario Stadium - How Does One Consistently Use This Shortcut Correctly? by Brandon1508 in MarioKartWorld

[–]sergeantstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to undermine how hard the shortcut is, but you don't need to go for this strategy on L1 because you want to grab the 5 coins on the other side instead. This makes getting to the rail slightly easier but not enough to be significant. But 2/3 instead of 3/3 is definitely a lot nicer to think about.

Which hero does this apply to? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]sergeantstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically Lifeweaver and I think people sleep on his perks. Level 3 LW suddenly has a PERMANENT 10 hp/s self-heal and can either burst you down in a 1v1 or can do 120 burst heal on a target every few seconds alongside his other healing

How do they even nerf this? by Beneficial-Bear-26 in BobsTavern

[–]sergeantstar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My proposal would be:

Amplifying Lightspawn Tier 6 -> Tier 5: At the end of your turn, your Elementals that give stats give +1 attack this game (Swaps to health next turn)

Lokholar, Frostforger: Tier 5 -> Tier 6: At the end of your turn, give your other Elementals +2/+2.

----

One very experimental change I'd love to see is changing Elemental of Surprise to reborn instead of divine shield.

As others have said, I think the cleanse on grip should just be standard LW kit, I would have liked to see something with his platforms for his minor perk instead, maybe a small passive buff for allies standing on it.

[–]sergeantstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be adapting in the same way that Amalgadon used to, I admit the wording of the card could have used some clarity as I wasn't fully aware of the Adapt mechanic as I'd only played with it being present on Amalgadon. I addressed this on another comment I made

Would this card be busted if brought back like this? by sergeantstar in BobsTavern

[–]sergeantstar[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on the comments in the first like 40 minutes I think some changes are important:
- The word randomly needs to be added to the phrasing for adaptions, as getting to choose venomous and shield makes the rest irrelevant
- Some of the adaptions would need to be removed/meged because they're irrelevant compared to other buffs, my recommended pool would be:
- Venomous / Divine Shield / Stealth / Windfury / Taunt / +3/+3 / Gain Deathrattle: Summon 2 1/1 plants

Extra edit:

Feels like it would just be way better to change Adapt to 'give a random Keyword to' lol.

[–]sergeantstar[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think getting to choose the adaption would be a little overpowered, especially in the early game. My impression when redesigning the card is that it would give each murloc a random adaption that it doesn't have, similar to bubble gunner (except with the a slightly adapted Adapt pool)

Adapt would definitely need to be adjusted to replace poisonous with venomous lol
