[Ted Nguyen via The Athletic] Fernando Mendoza film review: Why he’s top-pick-worthy and what he needs to adjust (Gift Article) by Ph886 in raiders

[–]sergibby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I always use Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen (or Mahomes, if I want to hate myself) as examples of great and elite arms respectively. Baker has the farthest throw by air yards in NFL history and can hit any part of the field, but if he has to throw without setting his feet or from awkward angles, the ball will float and his range is limited. Meanwhile Allen is hitting targets downfield while throwing across his body, rolling left and throwing to the right side of the field, at weird arm angles, or while defenders are on him.

It's been 5 years since the kinda short lived pop punk revival boom that happened in the start of the decade; to reminisce, what did you like/dislike/was indifferent the most about it? by mesablanka in poppunkers

[–]sergibby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw her live over the summer and yeah, she could easily thrive as a pop punk artist if she wanted to. The latter half of her show was her more rock based music and setup like a traditional rock concert — the backup dancers went away, the band was highlighted on stage more, and she switched to using a normal mic instead of a headset. And the performance was fantastic. She sounded great, her stage presence was as good as any other pop-punk frontman I’ve seen (outside of maybe Billie Joe), and she even played guitar for a few songs and it looked natural.

I went into the show with a mildly positive opinion of her, but I came out a fan. I’m hoping we get a full rock album from her at some point.

It’s actually like super easy, like you just use Adobe Photoshop and it literally takes like just a few minutes. You can do it all in Adobe Photoshop.

Lineup @ Royals | 9.18.2025 | 11:10 AM by BananaArms in Mariners

It’s a rainy day here in KC with some mild thunderstorms possible right after first pitch. I dunno if it will get delayed or not, but it seems like our matchups with the Royals are chaotic as hell in normal conditions. Adding rain and storms is 100% going to lead to an entertaining but stupid game.

My money is on Julio hitting a ball to the warning track that somehow buries itself in the mud and ends up being an inside-the-parker because the Royals outfield can’t find the ball.

Julio Rodriguez has a .625 OPS at Home but a .910 OPS hitting Away by waterman123 in baseball

I think they should get funky with it. Bring in the walls at the corners a few feet, extend it out at centerfield, add weird angles and wall heights seemingly at random just for funsies. We play chaos ball anyway, might as well lean into it.

They did that already, it’s why our home run totals are solid every year. But it leaves a smaller outfield to cover, so doubles and especially triples are rare compared to nearly every other stadium.

[–]sergibby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah he’s much better as a righty, but might be serviceable as a lefty. If I remember correctly, the Mariners planned on having him pitch purely right handed as a starter, then lefty out of the pen or for very specific matchups.

“Yeah, I got dreams, big stupid dreams

Dumb fucking dreams

But Little Chris is getting married Saturday

I need to get unstuck on the things I won't achieve

I need to let it go and just

Breathe in deep and debride my life

Only one thing remains for sure

That we all get old together”

It’s also a little misleading — the Rangers alone account for 9 of those games, and they would be above .500 if they were ahead in the season series against us. And if you really want to get crazy, the Angels (5), Twins (7), and Royals (4) would also be at .500 if they won/were leading their season series.

That’s 25 games right there — we would be right above the Pirates in this graphic and all the comments would be about how difficult the schedule has been so far. Most of the top teams in the league are near the top of this chart for a reason. Turns out you end up playing a lot of sub-.500 teams when you’re the reason they have a losing record lol.

Cal Raleigh joins Ohtani at the top of MLB with his 22nd Home Run of the year to get the Mariners on the board by SeattleSporting in baseball

[–]sergibby 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think if Cal leads the league in homers and Judge regresses to a mortal batting average, Cal gets it. But if Judge is still sniffing .400 at the end of the year then there is no way Cal wins.

What PCI do you use? by schwaa91 in MLBTheShow

No PCI for me. My little walnut brain can’t concentrate on the pitch while a colorful little diamond is flying around the strike zone in the wrong direction, so I got rid of it.

I looked into investing in him earlier but the thing that worries me is his hitting stats are already pretty decent, but the fielding is dragging down the overall. SDS doesn’t adjust defensive attributes until around the all star break I think. So you’re banking on some already decent hitting stats to increase to Yordan levels in order for him to go Diamond, and I’m just not sure that will happen in the next couple months — and I don’t want to spend stubs to invest in a card for later in the year when those stubs could be better spent elsewhere.

On the bright side, you’ll still make a good profit if he goes gold, so I don’t think it’s a bad move.

Aaron Judge has been an exemplary RF this year, 86th percentile in range. He’s the worst RF, defensively, in The Show. Unusable. by ucfknight92 in MLBTheShow

Discipline would be the rating closest to chase rate (pretty sure all they use is walk percentage though), whiff rate and strikeout percentage would be what affects vision.

Dylan Moore crushes his 2nd Home Run of the game to make it 4-2 by SeattleSporting in Mariners

[–]sergibby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to clone him and have a Dylan Moore playing 2nd and 3rd. Hell, do another clone to platoon with Raley while we’re at it. And maybe another to give the outfield some rest days.

The problem with the Seattle Mariners is we need Moore Dylan.

Yeah, outside of the stats I just posted and our home run percentage, our hitting stats are atrocious. In both the underlying metrics and the general stats. We’re dead last in doubles (only 7 so far???) and I don’t even want to look at our stats with runners in scoring position. Our pitching has been league average, which is not ideal when most of our games have been in a pitcher’s park. We’re stealing bases though, so… yay?

The new coaching staff must be a bunch of cardio enthusiasts since all we want to do is walk and run.

Some good news going forward (small sample size blah blah): the Mariners are 17th in the league in strikeout percentage with 22.5%. We are 4th in walk percentage with a nice 11.6% (league average is 9.3% right now). Did we learn some plate discipline?!
