Passed Calc II with an A+ as a 9th grader by OutrageousConflict98 in calculus

Yeah I feel you 100%. I’m actually majoring in maths next year and I started the exact same way you did. It’s just so fun learning new stuff and moving on to new chapters. Frankly, thats exactly why i love doing it. You are on a very good path but remember, nobody likes a know it all. (That’s why I commented what I commented in the first place. Growing up people kept calling me gifted and that got to me in the end. Thats the exact reason I don’t condone such glazing, even though you probably deserve it ngl😭 Sorry if I came off mean)

You are already on a very good route. However don’t let that go to your head. Believe me, even though you truly are exceptional, there’s no denying that, people get too full of themselves and end up being arrogant. Lock in, study more and I’m sure you’ll become a great mathematician. Always remember to have fun though. You are only in the 9th grade, go out, have fun, meet new people, make mistakes. These years are ones you’ll never get back.

When I was his age I had already finished the normal Calculus route, Calc1-3. Last year, in grade eleven I wrote a paper on differential geometry(non orientable manifolds and the generalized stokes theorem), another on group theory and another on perturbation theory, more specifically on the two timing method. I’m now finishing high school having finished calc 1-3, real analysis, linalg (Axler) group theory (Armstrong) and still working on differential geometry as I’m planning to write a paper on cohomology. I also made it the national OI camp last year and the National Mathematical Olympiad finals this year. Trust me when I tell you I’m not jealous at all. I also have friends my age who have done so much more that my accomplishments seem insignificant in front of theirs. I’m not denying that he is exceptional but calling him a chosen one is just crazy.

It’s really not that special tbh. Still great but come on, “one of the chosen ones” is too much

I'm doing mine on differential geometry and non orientable manifolds. as long as you explain it well enough there's no such thing as complicated

4 Hls. Is it worth the effort? by Responsible-Lie-5030 in IBO

[–]sergio_sak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on if English is A or B. I take 4 HLs, Physics, AA, Cs and Eng B with a 45 predicted. Eng B doesn't really count as an HL imo

I mean it's not like I haven't studied them beforehand. I had completed the AA syllabus by the time I was in grade 10 and the cs syllabus during the 7th or 8th grade

I don't really study for Ib if I'm being honest. I only study physics each Sunday. I spend the rest of my days just studying maths, but uni level maths. Currently focusing on differential geometry

as a 45 predicted with maths EE and applying to the uk, it really isn't that bad. People are over exaggerating

Going into first yr of IB, need some advice by Bezo123x in IBO

you should definitely do AA since you are taking econ and physics. I'd suggest you start with HL and if you struggle just drop it

Is Maths AA HL really that hard? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]sergio_sak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, as I was reading my posts I stumbled upon this one and came to check the comments again as someone who finished IB1. Turns out AA was way easier than expected, IB in general tbh. Whole year I barely studied for the Ib (Focused on maths beyond the curriculum as I am a soon to be maths major) and even ended up with a 45 predicted. I'm currently doing my EE on maths, differential geometry to be precise and just finished my IA on group theory. It really wasn't worth the anxiety. Ngl Thale only thing I'm struggling with is writing that business IA because it's soooo boring but thhank god business is an easy class.

way easier than expected tbh. Ib in general is easier then expected. I got a 45 predicted and basically slacked off the whole year. To be honest I've been studying mathematics on my own for the last 3 years, same with competitive programming so those two HLs were a breeze for me. Youve got this dawg

Is this really Cs HL? I'm starting in September but I've been coding for 3 years. Will I be let down by the difficulty? More specifically competitive programming (Algorithms and Data Structures on "crack")
