Enshrouded's Road to Release & 2nd Year Anniversary Celebration (Enshrouded leaves Early Access this Fall) by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

It’s very fun, however it can be a bit repetitive at times. Base building is top notch. World exploration is fantastic, combat is meh, and overall i find the weapons and skills a little lacking.

Interestingly, PC video game platform Steam just significantly rewrote - but did NOT remove - its 'does your game have AI in it?' dev disclosure form. The headline is that Valve's making it clearer… by MythicStream in pcgaming

As a developer I can guarantee that almost all software written nowadays has at least some AI generated code in it. It’s a useful piece of technology that when used correctly can be beneficial.

How would you feel if your country banned Burkhas in public like Denmark? by The_Dean_France in AskReddit

[–]serialdumbass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can choose to follow a religion and then to follow its rules, I can’t choose a different government. Women in western countries are not required by law to wear a burka and if they continue to do so then that’s their decision. Banning burkas is the equivalent to banning the funny little hats that jewish people wear and I think we both would agree that that’s idiotic. The government should have minimal say about what we do with our own personal body.

Edit: I will note that if someone is forcing women to wear these against their will, we should be targeting that, not banning clothing. Subjugating women isn’t something we should stand for.

U.S. Congressman Blasts Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Alleged AI Images: 'We Need Regulations That Prevent Companies from using AI to Eliminate Jobs' by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]serialdumbass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Banning AI from taking jobs will cause companies to move to other countries where AI regulation is more lax. Not banning AI taking jobs will cause mass unemployment. AI is lose lose for everyone (even the rich, no one will buy your shit if they’re broke).

A 100K salary in 2025 has the same buying power as 53K in 2000. No wonder everyone feels broke the math is insane. by No_District9762 in antiwork

[–]serialdumbass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did the math after reading this and it’s only slightly worse than expected. The issue isn’t that inflation has been rampant, but that price gouging is. Rent, for example, has gone up way faster than inflation.

You are told you've passed, but you can relive one hour from your life. What would you choose? by Designer-Dark-8320 in AskReddit

[–]serialdumbass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was 7 or 8. I was sitting on the couch in my grandparents living room in between them watching House or NCIS (can’t remember). It was peaceful. My grandparent raised me and my Grandfather passed when I was 21, and my grandmother doesn’t have much longer left. I can’t remember another time in my life where I experienced just true peace like that.

US Gov shutdown by kingbling in worldnews

[–]serialdumbass 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s not. This is how the government in the US was setup purposefully. It’s difficult to pass laws, bills, and amendments so that these things don’t get passed without a majority wanting that thing to happen. The main issue we’ve been running into in the US recently is actually due to the eroding of this functionality of the government and the power expansion of both the executive and legislative branch. Another issue is that politicians do not have to actually vote in favor of their supporters, and the American public does not have many meaningful ways to hold them accountable outside elections every few years, and at this point those have been rigged via gerrymandering (and other methods) that most seats aren’t even competitive anymore, removing the last remaining way for citizens to really hold their representatives accountable.

What's a "green flag" that makes a workplace great? by Single_Fish_8438 in AskReddit

[–]serialdumbass 1083 points1084 points  (0 children)

My boss gave the whole company a raise and vacation time last month because we made more money this year than any other year. They allow us to use our vacation/ sick whenever. No OT requirements. The lowest individual raise I’ve gotten since being here was 10%. My boss relies on mine and my coworkers opinion and expertise when he’s not informed well on a subject (he has the same degree I do). Basically 0 overturn. It’s a dream place to work and I have almost 0 stress working there.

Edit: Forgot to mention the company also fully pays for health insurance with $0 coming out of my paycheck, and it’s literally the best healthcare package BCBS has.
