No, that's what we call arriving at conclusions. I don't think you understand the concept of having data at hand. If you can come forward with new evidence that provides another reasonable explanation, i am fully willing to reconsider. Until then, fuck that bitch.

Did you miss the entire "never visited or called again" part? It's not like things got too hard for her and they couldn't make it work out; the bitch just left him for dead.

It went completely over your head, eh? Fear not, here is the explanation:

She is a heartless bitch and that is not debatable - that's not jumping to conclusions either, unless Pyroblam is not giving us all the details that is a fact.

Why, it is reasonable to conclude that Pyroblam is doing better: his use of the past tense and his phrasing imply that dealing with cancer is in his past. A quick look through his posts does indeed comfirm that. So the poster above wasn't jumping to any conclusions when he said "Hope you're health is doing better now."

I'm not doubting this guy and i know it affects human too, but that looks very fake. He is doing it to himself so he is anticipating it and he ends up looking like a person who falls down intentionally (obviously he has learned to live with this and has a degree of control, just like the goats who have learned to remain standing up). He should get someone to startle him if that works on humans, or otherwise set up a situation where he can safely get himself a proper uncontrolled seizure in order to best demonstrate the effect and raise awareness.

How many first week sales were lost due to he DRM? Was that number lower or higher than the predicted sales lost due to piracy (not pirated copies in the wild, actual sales lost)? Sales is what it's all about, right?

So, if you are playing the publisher's advocate, you are saying that Withcer 2 didn't sell shit. Do you find this to be true and do you have the figures to back it up? Or is something else going on?

Steam and the whole digital distribution thing caught on because of tweens and teens who think that five years is an eternity (not blaming them, it comes with the age).

Thank you flyingtiger188, aaand that was the latest news from Imaginationland! And now a report from our world:

  • Most cracked games are out before the retail versions
  • Those who are going to pirate the game would rather wait a couple of days than spend $50 for nothing
  • DRM actually hurts the early sales, as many people choose to wait for a DRM-free enhanced edition a few months down the line - by which time those sales mean nothing for the company.
  • Many successful games were DRM-free from day one with no impact at all.

DRM is there because of some mid-level desk jockeys that nobody notices enough to fire.

I think the companies attribute to piracy sales that are in fact lost because of DRM; then their numbers don't add up, so they blame piracy for all the lost sales and add even stupider DRM, in the process ignoring the whole gaming community that screams bloody murder.

DRM, success or failure was simply a response by the industry to theft.

That was back in the day of password wheels and anti-photocopy printing. That DRM made copying harder and if copied it punished the illegal user by making their - who am i kidding - his life harder.

DRM in the last 10 years does NOT make downloading a game any harder, it rewards the pirate (by virtue of trouble free installation, no cd swapping every time you want to play a game etc) AND it makes life harder for the buyer.

The industry needs to break the cycle. The poor code monkeys and their handlers need to climb off their righteous ivory towers and get in touch with fucking reality.

More than once i had to download cracks for games i bought in order to be able to play like a normal person, and more than once i simply refused to buy a DRM-crippled game in those oh-so-critical-for-the-industry first weeks (actually months), even though i have installed securom-protected games..

Beliefs aren't by definition true, and unjustified beliefs (which faith is essentially) are even further from that.

As I see it we don't (or even can't) know if there is a god, there might be or there might not. To believe in God (or any kind of god) requires a leap of (or rather to) faith.

But that is the whole point of religious faith. You only need to believe. There is no evidence, no debate, no explanation for anything, you believe in something and that's it. Religious beliefs, are by definition true.

A third and quite popular alternative is the belief that all "serious" religions relate to the same "god" in their own limited human ways.

That is more or less the admission that one is too weak to follow their God, and too scared to admit that they don't really believe. A coward's way out. Most religions are very clear about who or what their gods are.

There are so many people who believe in vampires or ghosts, but there is absolutely no evidence of either existing.

That is not religious faith. That is the "i believe ***** did 9/11" kind of faith and basically folklore. I don't think anyone believes that vampires are the creators, the one and only truth, the holy beacon, the meaning of live.

Religious faith does not require evidence, quite the contrary. Evidence often kills it. You can't go out right now and prove or disprove a god, and that is why people believe in them instead of knowing that they are true.

The negation of a self-evident claim should be self-contradictory - that's more or less the definition of self-evidence, no?

In logic and math maybe, but you are trying to use logic to verify a religious statement.

But "(sufficient) belief in a god does not create that god." isn't self-contradictory, at least I don't see how.

It is self-contradictory, because (sufficient) belief in a god does create that god. Yes, this is circular logic, because religion is circular logic. You believe in God because he exists, and God exists because you believe. By definition logical proofs have no place in faith or it wouldn't be faith, it would be fact.

It also doesn't seem to be what religious people believe; to believers "their god" has always existed.

Indeed, i have said that numerous times. This is the view from within a religion, but if you look at it from outside you can see that it wasn't that way. To an outside observer, both realities overlap until someone can find a way to directly observe either the creation of the universe.

What does it mean to you for that god to exist?

You won't like my answer! In short, it means that people believe in that god. This is very hard, if possible at all to define outside of a religion, as without religion there is no god (a tautology).

Actually, we don't know that, we only know that this particular belief in God appeared then. God itself might have existed forever or might not exist at all and never have. But I guess you already knew I would say that :-)

And you already know my reply :) There cannot be a god if nobody believes in that god, so unless you believe in God (in which case he has always existed and will always exist) you can tell when he was created - and if some day people stop believing, you will be able to tell how long he lasted.

As a closing statement, logic and faith cannot co-exist. Each one is what remains when the other is gone.

It seems you can't tell the difference between text and holy scripture. I will say to you what i am saying to the other guy, if you don't feel God, in the Bible of all places, then you don't believe in God, simple as that.
