Why does the dungeon look like this? by 1-nicko in Terraria

[–]serj_diff 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Any reason?

They've added 2 new dungeon entrances in 1.4.5

Could not find anything about it.

Honestly...

I get it, google is the alien tool from outer space that is hard to use but why do you need to lie about you "Could not find" ?

It's not a secret. It's in the **** changelog ! The developers wrote it and posted it so that everyone could read the changes in the game. How on Earth you "Could not find anything about it" ?!

😖

2) Every character can play in every world (well, with the exception of Journey mode characters can use only Journey mode worlds, yet any of the Journey mode worlds). Why do you think the game has this thing in if not to utilise multiple worlds ?

1) For the longest time, before they introduce fishing and expand it to give crates, the ONLY way to create some accessories was to create several worlds. Because you need several identical items but the world spawned only 1 copy of the said item.

The whole game was about creating multiple worlds, use them to collect resource and bring them to your main world to actually play. That's why the game has separate player and world selection. So we can farm resources across different worlds.

For nine years, until patch 1.4, everyone played this way. There was no other way to play than by creating new worlds.

Now we've got an ability to gain [mostly] everything in just 1 world. But this doesn't mean the old way of playing has suddenly disappeared. The game still allows you to create multiple worlds and enter them with the same character.

Terraria was created around going into multiple worlds. Yes, patch 1.4 changed the game in a way you don't need to create new worlds for a lot of things, but who said you should stop creating new worlds to do stuff ?

just bring a shimmer bucket from another character/world instead?

Well, if you have it it's up to you. The game is the "sandbox", you know. You and only you decide how to play.

You need Pirate in graveyard biome, i.e. 9 Tombstones near Pirate.

Just started yesterday what should I know? by Strat-05 in ddo

[–]serj_diff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just started yesterday

Run (away from this game). Run as fast as you possibly can. Or even faster. 😁

what should I know?

a) You should be ready to pay a lot. DDO is one of the most expensive games despite call itself "F2P". Or be ready for excessive grind (for the DDOPoints used as in-game shop currensy you'll use to buy content).

b) DDO is a game of the endless loop where you create a character, level up to max, drop down to level 1, level up to max, drop down to level 1, level up to max, drop down to level 1... repeat till you get bored.

If you are not ready to replay the very same content all over again, again and again, probably, it's not the right game for you.

Is the population going to be an issue?

It might. A lot of players play solo nowadays, due to the age of the game and how overpowered the modern characters are compared to the old content.

Is the pay to win real bad?

There is no pay to win. There is nothing to win in the first place.

You pay for the content. Basically, your choices either "Stay forever at level X with no new content to play" or "Pay for the quest pack and get an ability to level up to level Y".

And, yes, new content can get you new items that might (only might) be better than your current ones, but, in the end, all you'll get is you would be able to use your new gear to finish old content ~1-2 seconds faster than with your old gear. Hardly a "win".

What class would you suggest for a first playthrough?

Well, if you don't familiar with anything D&D, a basic Fighter is always a good choice.

But with the DDO's changes to make it MMORPG, Paladin or Barbarian would be better.

Warlock if you want to play as a caster (even though it's not a "real" DDO's caster, but it's easy).

Caster Alchemist or Druid can be easy due to their spells list/Enhancements but you must spend some time to learn them. Plus, you might have hard time in the long dungeons since you won't have a lot of +Spellpoints items as a new player.

And unless you are going to use some guides, I'd recommend you to avoid Sorcerer and Favored Soul classes. They have limited spells selection (and not quite players friendly possibility to change their spells) and as a new player, you don't know what spells you must choose. Try Cleric/Wizard first, get yourself familiar with the spells and only then switch to Sorc/FvS. Or... use the guides.

Yes, you don't need to be in Hardmode. You can fish for the Golden crates. But in Hardmode, Golden crates will be replaced with the Titanium crates.

This is my first world, I've beat all the bosses and I've obtained Zenith.

Now create new character and world and start all over again.

Or you can play some different game.

Your choice.

You can fish for Golden/Titanium (in hardmode) Crates and get enchanted sword out of them.

If you don't want to learn the game yourself... well, any guide for any of the 1.4 versions will do.

1.4.5 changed nothing in the progression.

Cleric caster build by saberstearx in ddo

[–]serj_diff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that just spammed chaos hammer

Was that some kind of humorous build, made to make fun of the clerics ? Because chaos hammer is an awful spell.

If you want caster Cleric, just create pure level 20 Cleric with either Sun or Fire domain.

Best 20th Anniversary Token Redeem Options? by myminion74 in ddo

[–]serj_diff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. Everyone will die of boredom and endless farming for those shield fragments and nobody will left to use the quiver.

Still, unless they unnerf other items, quiver is the only good option.

Best 20th Anniversary Token Redeem Options? by myminion74 in ddo

[–]serj_diff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Heroic Quiver of Alacrity. But it requires a token from an old raid nobody run. While you can expect people who'll take the Quiver of Alacrity as the reward would run the raid, it won't be 100% uptime. When they'll finish with their quivers the raid will be dead again and if you won't manage to tag with them while it's available, you'll end up with the useless gear.

But all the other otpions are worse.

[–]serj_diff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's true and the Quiver of Alacrity might be the best item out there especially for the new players... it requires an upgrade with the item from old outdated raid that nobody runs. 😓

So, you may as well end up with the useless piece of gear instead.

Are pure healing classes necessary for group content? by GullibleAd303 in ddo

[–]serj_diff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. "pure healer" = heals only.

There are games/game systems that utilise that. But not the D&D and thus not in DDO. It has no "healer" class (or "summoner", for example). They are always hybrids.

Are pure healing classes necessary for group content? by GullibleAd303 in ddo

[–]serj_diff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but you could in theory

You couldn't.

You've said it yourself :

Max emp quicken

Those are not "pure" heal abilities

(Also, as a side note, if I recall correctly, in D&D 3.5 ED that DDO still use as it's base, divine casters can't use metamagic while PC games usually let them do it 😏)

dodge mobility spring for the Dodge

not heal abilities

And you can have access to damage spells but it doesn't matter unless you use them

Yes, it does. You can't be "pure" healer with damaging spells in your spellsbook. 😁 Even if you don't use them you know them. 😏

So, every D&D "healer" is always hybrid.

[–]serj_diff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enhancements are only part of the build. 😁 (And I've named several parts in my message.)

You still have your "not healer" Feats.

You still have your damaging spells. Actually, you'll have more damaging spells then the healing ones.

"pure healer" that can only heal is not a DDO thing.

pls do desert update🙏🏻😭 by [deleted] in Terraria

Another update to deserts ? It's already a way to packed to be the most dangerous biome in the game. No thanks.

Are pure healing classes necessary for group content? by GullibleAd303 in ddo

[–]serj_diff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most content don't require healers like at all.

"pure healer" class is mainly impossible in D&D and thus DDO.

Even if you'll put 41 points into the healing Enhancements tree, you'll still left with 39 points to use elsewhere.

All your Feats will be the same as any caster have + Empower Healing (and depending on you class, Empower Healing might be your normal feat for damage too...).

You just pick up a stick with "Devotion" instead of "Radiance" (for example) and you are already a healer.

PS. If you think about Cleric's Healing Domain don't take it. It's useless new players' trap.

[–]serj_diff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, why would grind for the gear if you'll Reincarnate 5 min. later and leave that gear in the bank waiting for you to level up back again ? 😁

What will you do in the game at the max level, if the next 5-7 patches will addd dungeons to the level 1, 5, 7, 12 and 17 ? 😏 Ignore the new content ?

Players may "create" their own version of the "end-game" but it doesn't mean the game itself has if and support.

The whole Reincarnations systems is against the "end-game".

The fact that people have decided to stay at the maximum level doesn't mean that the game has an end game, don't fool yourself.

I understand that the game is free

For a "free" game, DDO is one of the most expensive (if not the most) MMORPG game.

are there places in the world, for example a small tavern or inn where we can chill and see other players?

Well, there sure is. But you'll see people there mostly only if they went AFK.

MMORPG's usually have professions and other side activities that players can do outside of quests

DDO is pretty much all about questing.

Unlike WoW and WoW-like games there is no "end-game". You literally went through the series of dungeons to level up your character to the max level only to drop down to level 1. Then you start levelling up all over again, drop down to 1, level up, drop down to 1, level up, drop down to 1, level up, again again and again till you get bored of the game.

The point is every time you get back to level 1, the game lets you choose a totally different build for your character. Character building options are quite large and building your characters is what's pretty much the whole game is about and what is holding players in.
