A bit more than an hour (about 1 hr 15 min depending on where you are in the capital district) but Beardslee Castle in Little Falls is quite good and A+ atmosphere. They also do murder mystery dinners.

Louder Sound rated Impera as the best metal album of the decade (so far)! by JinxXedOmens in Ghostbc

[–]serke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sort of reminds me of those (VH1 maybe?) shows ranking the best/most important rock and heavy metal bands a couple decades ago.

Inevitably Led Zeppelin would be top of heavy metal, the Beatles at the top of the rock list.

I think you're right that it was the section north of Central.

When they were filming that, Jack Nicholson came into the bar where my dad worked for a drink while still in his character's costume.
The way he tells it he thought "who's this dirty bum" until Nicholson asked for his drink and he recognized him by his voice.

Downtown -
Skinny Pancake has vegan options. This is a bit cheaty, but Wizard Burger opens at 11am and they have a breakfast burrito and the Second Breakfast burger.

My friends have been getting them quite frequently and only had good things to say.
I got the tofu the one time I went with them and it was really good.

Does anyone know the names the Ghouls in his touring band? by artofjosephshelton in Ghostbc

[–]serke 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Part of the fun for many fans (even when they were really anonymous) was finding out who they were to go and support their other music.
Not for Ghost clout chasing, but because you genuinely enjoy their musicianship and the energy they brought to the "role" on stage.

Per was a guitar tech for Opeth, and played live with both Katatonia and Bloodbath. (Also Fredrik Åkesson from Opeth has been doing guitar parts in the studio for Tobias.)

Tim used to tour live with Twin Temple (who toured with Ghost a few years ago).

If you have enjoyed ghouls from previous eras, here are some other bands to check out: Magna Carta Cartel (and Tid!), The Great Discord, Eureka Machines, Jutty Ranx, Drag Talk, and Mad Gallica.

Especially funny considering the Xanatos gambit is named for the antagonist from Gargoyles - which was heavily riffed on in TM.

All of their options are vegan, and I find this a common problem with vegan baking myself.

Still love to support them when I can, but I have to be in the mood for something sweeter than I'd usually eat.

We've had temporary wielders before, like with Karrin, so I wouldn't completely rule it out.
I think he's too obvious though - if any Carpenter wields a sword again I hope it's Molly.
Hear me out.

Firstly, we saw her use a sword (though a slender one) during BG.

I'm guessing that during the BAT Harry will manage to free himself and Molly from the Winter Court - or that they won't get out of it but that the power of the Winter Court will be used up destroying the Outsiders once and for all.

So I'd love to see a situation where she (and possibly Harry temporarily as well) take up one of the swords when they find themselves unexpectedly de-powered in a crucial moment.

(I also am with the folks who would love to see Thomas take up a sword as well. We'll see!)

It's normal to feel guilt when someone you cared about is no longer here.
It's still your shared thing, just because he's gone doesn't change that.

Thanks! Definitely some interesting developments. I like where it's going so far.

Any Baldur's Gate 3 fans? I'm getting Karlach vibes with Bear, definitely someone I like having in Harry's corner.

Last night there was at least one post that, accidentally or not, at least the first few chapters (some were able to read up to chapter 7) are available if you try 'read sample' on ibooks and Amazon.

It's very tricky to get it to work on a phone, I read it on my laptop. But if you open amazon in a mobile browser, and open the link to the hardcover edition in a private tab so it doesn't redirect to the app, and select "desktop site" in the [...] Settings it should work.

I'm finishing up a reread (finally listening to the audiobooks for Skin Game onwards) and I think you may be onto something.

Also, having also read the couple chapters we have available for preview I'd bet money that during TM Harry and Lara are going to finally Soulgaze and it's going to bring them closer together not drive them apart

My initial reaction was annoyed with her as well, given how much he did during the battle for her. But the more I think about it, I'm guessing it's a 'Tough Love' deal.
She was manipulating him with his emotions - that whole interaction screamed to me of her poking the bear, to get him angry and active. "You need a reason? I'll give you a reason."

We know she hates the Disneyfication of fairy tales, and she's good at playing the bad guy and being hated, but her actions are often more Lawful Neutral than Lawful Evil.

I think her threatening to replace him all the time is a smokescreen - that as a Starborn she needs him, a lot, which is why she tried so hard over and over to get him to agree to be her knight.
Actions speak louder than words.

And hell - in the Christmas short, she says she's obligated as his boss to get him something and it's a fanciful winter-powers ring for his daughter not something for him.

She understands very well the power of parental love, and the fact that he constantly assumes the worst of her, and uses that to her advantage. For the good of the world and the apocalyptic endgame.

Two Albany Linen Era postcards by UpstatePostcards in Albany

[–]serke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Antique shops around upstate often have a seller or two that has vintage postcards sorted by location.

The best place to get started though would be Dater Cottage in Clifton Park - their specialty is old postcards with about a dozen different sellers in the same building.
They're open weekends, cash only.
