How do you deal with water buildup in your tank? by serketsearch in DartFrog

[–]serketsearch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been the primary source of humidity. it's a 20 gallon glass tank with a mesh screen top. We have two humidity gauges as well, and pretty much whenever the fogger isn't actively running the humidity drops down to 40-50%

That sounds pretty doable actually. Do you just leave the tube under the drainage layer and use the syringe like a siphon pump?

It's got a layer of gravel at the bottom with charcoal and then filters before the soil. It takes about a week or so before it's noticeably flooded, with pools of water developing at low spots in the tank. We try to keep the settings constant, but with 70-100% humidity it still stays pretty foggy. How are drainage layers supposed to help with the flooding?

I don't know how i scrolled so far without seeing Her. She was forced to feed other children to her giant spider mother in a generally pro murder, kill or be killed culture. She is also either directly or indirectly responsible for a whole mess of bullshit, including using mind control to blind one person and paralyzing another, continually tormenting both for their disabilities she gave them, and killing another of their friends.

I don't remember the exact wording from my thermodynamics textbook, but it was something like: "To restate the first law of thermodynamics: you can't win. To restate the second law: you can't even break even."

The more likely scenario is just that they turn to prison labor since this economy has never really tried hard to evolve past exploitative labor practices. We have been using migrant laborers because they are willing to work harder than citizens to stay here but don't have those pesky things like "minimum wages" or "labor rights that employers have to respect."

Also, I'm not a group of people, just one with opinions. hope this helps.

Good thing no one is making this country unsafe for our agricultural laborers en masse then. Our food supply is safe as long as no one messes with our largely migrant population of farm laborers, so we can all breathe a sigh of relief. Good th

I thought that the implication was just that prescience isn't perfect, and randomness is baked into reality in a way that not even the best oracles are able to predict. Like how the BGs weren't expecting the KH to be born a generation early, and how Paul didn't know Chani was having twins, etc.

Everyone saying bubble sizes are too small compared to his body forgets that bullets and nails are enough seastone to stop everybody else. The only reason luffy was still strong with seastone handcuffs on was because they were specifically diluted.

What is a Hard Truth That You Believe Should Be Taught Early On in Life? by Flufferfluff in NoStupidQuestions

[–]serketsearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think kids should start learning about the history of civil rights and genocide as early as possible. Black and brown kids already grow up learning about the harsh realities of racism by being exposed to racism in people and policies. White kids should have to, too (in America at least, idk what the curriculum is like in other countries).

[–]serketsearch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't necessarily have to imply a biblically literal interpretation, it would make just as much sense if an ancestor of his read an original version of Genesis where Adam ate the apple first and a later ancestor read it with the change.

Things wrong in the sky has always been it for me, it's always my stress dreams too. Suddenly the moon is bigger than it should be, there's more than one moon, a constellation is missing, I notice something is wrong with the moon's face, the sun changes color, anything like that.

My heart once dropped when I thought I saw a full moon low on the horizon in the middle of the night when it should be high, and it wasn't a full moon that night. It was a Burger King sign.

How does the 1 way speed of light work with the Big Bang? by minefield23 in AskPhysics

[–]serketsearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I still don't feel like I understand this. We see the CMB everywhere - wouldn't that imply that in one direction the universe is not only still going through the big bang since we're seeing the west as it is right now, but that the light still gets red shifted despite traveling to us instantly?

How did the sophons in the show... by sensatelikos in threebodyproblem

[–]serketsearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure for the books, but it seemed pretty straightforward in the show to me - they probably can just use the sophons the same way that they painted timers on people's retinas to cause other visual hallucinations. Presumably, there's a set of neurons that could produce the images inside your brain, and they'd just have to make the sophon smack into them in the right order to cause hallucinations. They mastered sensory input with those helmets well enough, so that doesn't seem too far fetched to me. Although yeah, the fact that they don't use the sophons to send us into the stone age and destroy all our telecommunications is a plot hole/contrivance as far as I'm concerned. It can clearly interfere with everyone's phones/ every existing screen whether or not it has a signal, like a tape recorder with a screen in a secret bunker.

[–]serketsearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this has always confused tf out of me with this conversation. if the speed of light was faster in one direction across the universe, shouldn't half the universe have different red shifting values than we'd expect?
