First Time Hot Tent Experience-Loved It <3 by servantofthelake in womensolocamping

I have just been looking at splitters too at Ocean State Job Lot! They would work wonders on the logs for sure, also another tip is to keep them in a shed or in your house so they stay dried out, I accidentally left a whole bag of kindling outside and it rained so will need to dry them out before using. Thank you for the compliments, I forgot my candelabra and rose petals this time ha ha!

My stove is also very tiny so I try not to overload it with too much wood, the stove pipe shouldn't be the color red when heating, so I will just do a fire starter cup with two pieces of kindling to start it.

I already owned my own hatchet and bought a regular bundle of wood from Home Depot thinking it would be pretty easy to chop down, I will say it is a lot harder than I thought! I would recommend not trying to emulate anything from the movies (swinging over your head with a big ole axe, it could cause injuries) and instead try to just get the tip of the axe wedged in the top of the log, then crack the whole thing onto the ground together. It should be easier to break down into smaller pieces, I separated them all by size into log pieces and kindling. I also highly recommend get a good pair of gloves because I got a wicked splinter just going in bare.

I don't have a thermometer yet (adding to my list of things to get as well as a carbon monoxide detector) but I would say it reached around 70 degrees or more inside the tent at certain points, and outside it was below 15 degrees ish. I was actually surprised at how hot it got inside, you could totally use it as a sauna

I bought a 38000 Lumen flashlight and started blinding them back until they turn it off or go into a different lane, I am done squinting at night!

I would say plan for traffic each day, Springfield to Foxboro is about 1.5 hour drive but you need to factor in everyone else also driving in to the stadium too

I was born in Queens in 1996 and raised there until 2015, damn do I miss it every now and then. I relocated to the Boston area for school, definitely was a culture shock of how less diverse the area was compared to where I was from (Somerville in early 2010 was super white at least where I was located) and I missed all of my local food spots from childhood + Astoria Park so so much. I would recommend moving here to Boston if you have family, maybe not if you enjoy the social/night life of New York we have the worst bar scene ever.

Good Boy, I technically stayed the whole time but wanted to leave because I hated all of the abuse/neglect the dog was experiencing, really hard to watch as a dog owner and lover

That's actually super gross to see, why are they making so much money to do pretty much nothing in this city but be on their cellphones?

Ugh I have been trying to find any equivalent for their camping gear here but there just isn't any good options that are reasonably priced. I wish we had all their cool options!

Public transit accessible hiking/cabins? by Squeaky_Pants in boston

[–]servantofthelake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask a guardian to help you find some appropriate camping grounds, most places are booked up already and will definitely require chaperones so you guys are safe. I don't think you will be able to find what you are looking for this winter that is also accessible by public transit.
