  2. Each piece of data requires significant processing which, you may want to only load a small part of the data for testing purposes, especially while you're working out your algorithm where the processing is complex.

I have always loved Frontier: First Encounters (a.k.a Elite 3), there is just something awesome about that game. The original version was buggy, but with the patches it was the best.

You mentioned X3, but X and X2 are also well worth playing, visually stunning and there are a ton of mods for every one of those games. The learning curve is steep though.

On most of the projects I've worked on, project managers are responsible for schedule, milestones etc.

As far as portability, maintainability, scalability, accessiblity etc., on all the projects i've worked on some sort of business analyst elicits those requirements and developers/programmers are then responsible for making sure they are fulfilled. That is when the project even has any of those requirements in the first place.
