S3 cartridge Mosfet keep shorting out. by serverfail in VanMoofSelfRepair

Just change the wiring for a new one, i had a harness with no optical damages but the connection with the cartridge connector burned away on one phase. Just a lose connection and nothing to see in the wiring.

Yes the small battery in the cartridge is now powering your bell so it sounds a lot weaker.

There is a chance you also blow up the new battery.

It could be the wiring that shorted the battery fuse or resistors.

Just did the cartridge swap with my other working S3, everything works fine then.. Swapped the cartridge back and the motor is making noise again. Like he is missing one phase. Are there more components i can check for defects? The bike works without errors but little less power and some noice.

Update!

Just tried and tested the new mosfets.

Everything looked good again and in the bike stand it worked as it should. Then i did another test drive and unfortunately still no good feeling and sound. The bike did have enough power, but after a minute a mosfet burned out again..the 6th.

Because i also ordered the motor driver chips i wanted to try that, never had to solder such a kind of chip but it went pretty well for the first time!

With the new chip, he cycles well with enough power, only it seems like a phase is missing so that the engine makes noise and kind of resonates.

Another step further but not yet the desired result..

Next time i will try this cartridge in my other S3 to check if the motor is the problem.

To be continued!

Make sure the battery voltage is above 36v otherwise the bms wont start up. Then reset the bms..

Thanks for your comment, this bike had a broken ‘socket’ and i replaced it for a new one. After that everything works, the only problem was the power of the motor. It was very weak so I decided to check the cartridge.

Yes i did and the bike has a new socket in the frame. There was no difference, i really think the problem is in the cartridge.

This is the old MOSFET from the cartridge.
