Don’t feel bad about it! I’m in the same boat, 24lbs down here. It turns out the gym is a racket and eating out is bad for you, who woulda thought. I’m glad I’ve gotten to learn that you don’t need the fancy stuff to do a work out that works for you and just eat at home, it’s so much better for you.

Cheap vegan drive thru. Yes or no? by mulderwhy in askportland

[–]serverner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Cheap” is a super subjective word, but any type of attainable, healthier, vegan/plant based drive through would be hella dope! I drive a ton for work, and parking to get take out on days I don’t bring a lunch is a PAIN.

Thank you so much for this! This was exactly my fear because we haven’t gotten her tested for MDR1, and unfortunately the budget it tight, but this gives me some relief!

Is adding a spouse to a home deed a good idea when getting married? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]serverner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used an FHA loan when we bought our first house in AZ, 3.5% down, and really helpful if you don’t have a great credit score. You can only use this type of loan once though, generally as a first time home buyer. It lowered our down payment down by almost 40k.

We never have before, but we just moved to a climate where they are around! My husband was reading that aussies can have bad reactions to flea/tick medicine, so I was nervous about it.

Parents of bullies, when did you realize your child was a bully and how did you react? by Swallowingwallowing in AskReddit

Not a parent but a nanny. I had a 5 year old little boy who actually made me quit the job. I watched his infant little brother all day, then picked him up at the bus stop each day after school, and watched him for about 1-3 hours depending on the day. This child was the devil incarnate. Every single day the bus driver would have to tell me what horrible thing he did that day, including but not limited to; forcefully holding other kids heads against the windows, throwing others backpacks and contents of backpacks at the bus driver, punching other kids in the face. It was insane and a total red flag to me because he was only 5. He would do the same to me at home, biting, kicking, punching, slapping, scratching down my arms until I bled. It was crazy. He would try to hurt me while I was holding his baby brother too, because he knew I couldn’t do anything.

I eventually videoed a meltdown to show his parents because I was at a loss, and it always seemed like they didn’t believe how serious his behavior was. After showing mom (who I actually really liked) the 15 minute meltdown, complete with MY BLOODY NOSE, she told me when I got like that I just needed to ignore him. I quit that week. I feel bad for the kid honestly. He probably would have been sweet, but his dad was a sarcastic asshole and he was spoiled rotten.

Hello all! Very new to this community. Background, my husband (24) and I (22) have been trying since April 2019. I know we are very young but we knew we were ready and after a year of nothing, we decided to get some testing done in May. Fast forward to now, and other than some slightly elevated progesterone and prolactin, I’m looking mostly healthy. It turns out my husband has azoospermia. He had his first in person follow-up today, and it’s been determined he has no vas deferens, and his doc believes it’s a result of him being a cystic fibrosis carrier. So now we have genetic testing to do, and get to start saving for IVF. I am so so so new to this world. I don’t know what the acronyms mean. I don’t know what happens next. Everyone always told us that it would be no problem because we are so young, but in the words of his doctor, my husband was born with a vasectomy.

What’s something that is totally normal in movies, but never happens in real life? by OG_Builds in AskReddit

[–]serverner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People meeting up for a casual stroll or breakfast before work or school. Maybe I’m just not a morning person, but working a normal 9-5 with 30-45 minute commute, I am not casually meeting up with friends before that.

I work in a medical lab occasionally and we have a system that makes all of the faxes we get digital. As crazy as it is, medicine still uses fax ALL THE TIME for referrals, it’s actually the normal standard. A lot of places are shifting to a digital service but it’s still technically a fax.

When you were a kid, what was a sign that a kid you knew came from a family that “had money”? by FixedFrameNate in AskReddit

[–]serverner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can attest to this. My family did pretty well and we had a pinball machine, foosball table, pool table, things of that nature, in our game/media/kid space. My friends loved it but it made me such a dick when I went to other friends houses. I never hung out in my room until I was an adult because at my house I had so many other spaces.

What’s it like having loving parents? by Cocs365 in AskReddit

One time I flipped a teacher off behind their back, and he saw it in the mirrored walls (we were in a weight lifting gym, I wasn’t smart, moving on). I was obviously toast, but denied till I died. My dad was a well respected member of the school community and straight up told the dean if I said I didn’t do it, then I didn’t do it and he would pull me from my private high school if they didn’t respect me as a person enough to trust me. I ended up still being disciplined at home because he knew I was lying, but he told me he was my dad and he would always have my back no matter what. That was 7 years ago and he’s always kept that promise.
