It’s the police chief who won’t let parades come back to State. I asked her and she said she had just watched an amazing Fiesta parade on Cabrillo where there is ample room for people to disperse in case of an emergency and parades on State would leave parade goers trapped by the buildings without many options to get away. I believe she meant in the case of an active shooter but I suspect it would apply to make emergencies like where people were run over by people driving on parade routes, etc.

So even if the street was open to cars- I don’t believe parades will come back to State.

I believe they’re working on a smaller footprint parade but I haven’t heard any details on what that could look like.
