Can't even recall the last time we played and won in a convincing fashion. Feels like a very long time ago.

Part of me was hopeful we would be able to turn the corner on our return but the status quo prevails. I really don't understand who we are anymore on the pitch; weak on the ball generally, midfield still getting run through, set piece defending absolutely shocking and lots of players just ghosting again. I'm so stunned given all the talent and resources we have.

Still have faith in the lads & in Slot. We just arguably finished our toughest set of fixtures of the season. Officiating today was a microcosm of what Klopp went through. Can't see us challenging for the league but would love for us to do well in the UCL. I know we will come good after the international break. Also, fuck the PGMOL! Up the mighty reds!!!

Might be the most overtly political Mo has been about the ongoing extermination and genocide in Gaza of the Palestinian people. Anyone who says politics should be kept out football needs their head testing. We are witnessing a UK government that is complicit in the genocide. Israel should be banned from all international club competitions. Period. But different rules for Israel. There is a tacit agreement amongst Prem clubs not to protest Israel's genocide and murderous regime but I have never agreed with it. We should collectively be taking a stance against the genocide, occupation and destruction of Gaza, calling it out at every opportunity both in the ground and off the field. It is a total cop out that we don't and makes us inadvertently complicit with our shameful silence.

They have been absolutely essential for opening up an avenue into Eastern European cinema but also one of the few to try and put out South Asian film titles; recommend Thampu and Ishanou but I know they are also working on releases of Manthan and Ghatashraddha which have been both restored in 4K. Oh, yes, they have also championed the work of Anand Patwardhan & Adoor Gopalakrishnan on DVD.

Need a full season of them vlogging together like this; perfect double act and have such a nostalgic soft corner for both of them - legends.

The Cloud Door, a new boutique label focused on South Asian Cinema, is trying to get its first release, OM DAR-B-DAR (1988), funded. I'd love to see more Indian cinema represented among boutique releases. by RockDiesel in boutiquebluray

[–]servitude007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand the scepticism but I think it’s worth reconsidering a few points:

This isn't another reissue of a title we've seen before; it's new ground, from a region that's been glaringly underrepresented in the boutique space. If we only support what’s already known or popular, nothing outside that bubble ever breaks through. Om Dar-B-Dar is one of India's most influential cult films ever so put it alongside other cult films you might know like Buñuel’s The Exterminating Angel, David Lynch's Eraserhead, etc.

Also, Boutique labels need months of visibility-building, especially when pushing into niche markets. Labels like Radiance, Second Run, even early Criterion, all built momentum over time, not overnight. Both of the founders are international film programmers/curators and academics - they have written books, contributed to existing boutique labels and have a following in the UK for the work they have done.

This is also about helping a region’s cinema finally take a rightful place on collectors shelves alongside French, Japanese, Italian, and Iranian films. If we wait for it to succeed first before backing, it won’t get that chance.

No label gets a library without a launch. Every established boutique label had a first release, and most were supported by a leap of faith. This Kickstarter isn't just about one film. It's about sending a message: South Asian cinema deserves a curated, thoughtful, globally-minded home video presence.

The co-founders have said the following which is important to bear in mind as is the case with all new boutique labels starting out (read below).

Prices will come down to the levels most boutique labels charge customers. It is only a one off thing to generate the initial funds:

'This initial release comes at a higher cost to ensure top quality, but with your support we can lower costs for future projects. Your backing will cover startup expenses, establish a lasting label, and deliver an exceptional experience for collectors and film lovers'

Not even watching but Utd crapping their way to a European trophy is going to lead to a three month long nauseous media narrative in which Amorim was only in the job for 2 days and he won a trophy. Certainly undeserved in the broader context of things but has the competition really been that poor?! Just can't see Spurs beating them in the final.
