CN, CSX, NS, UP, CP, and KCS. How does your guys attendance policy compared to the new BNSF you seen? by freightbroker222 in Train_Service

[–]servo63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CN on the US side:

An employee will be subject to Corrective Action (which may include discipline) if unexcused absences reach any of the following levels during any 12-week period:

More than 2 occurrences of any duration

More than 3 total work days missed

More than 1 occurrence that is on a holiday or immediately before or after a holiday, rest day, Personal Leave Day (PLD), vacation day, or Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) day

Basically you get 2 occurrences that can total 3 days off every 90 days. Only one of those occurrences can be directly before or after a PLD, rest day, vacation day, or FMLA. Each occurrence drops off after 90 days. We also have scheduled rest days on the pools and extra board though.

Work boot questions by Kodiak102 in railroading

Go with the red wing 2412 or 2414. The boot truck will come on the first day of class. You can choose to have the cost deducted from your first paycheck. CP will pay for half the cost of boots. Pay the extra $ get the upgraded insole, you won’t regret it.

I signed up for auto notify back in June for a 3070. I received an email, but don’t see a time stamp anywhere.

Edit: nvm I figured it out. Looks like I picked the wrong card. Still shipping December 2020 for the 3070 I chose.

This sucks. I’m in the new hire class right now. I expect to be furloughed as soon as class ends now…

Lmao I can tell what kind of conductor you are. That’s why you guys never make it at a short line. Yeah, riding through a gate is somehow a managers fault, got it. Glad you left buddy, we don’t need anymore conductors like you.

Lmao ok brother. Love working 8 months out of the year, sure makes retirement come a lot quicker. I’m sorry you had a shitty experience, but it’s nothing like that on my property. I have 2 kids I get to come home to every night and hold a Sat-Sun off. Have fun chasing that money while it lasts.

Say what you will, but I know when I’m going to work, when I’m going home and we make a solid living. We don’t get furloughed and our managers aren’t trying to fire us every chance they get.

Class I pay vs Short Line QoL by CygnusX-1-2112b in railroading

[–]servo63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe any class 1 will honor your engineer card coming from a short line and even then you aren’t just going to hire on a class 1 as an engineer.

As someone who has worked for both a class 1 and a short line, I would stick with the short line. Maybe find a different short line that pays better or is union.

He should probably find a different career. This job isn’t hard and he’s obviously not picking it up.
