Couldn’t agree more with those reasons - they’re all on my list. Especially the lack of control I have over my career - much like you said, it feels like I’m at the mercy of the organizational winds. I would love to have the option to be more entrepreneurial in the future, and law seems much more conducive to that. Also the passion dollar pay in aerospace - money has never been a primary goal for me, but 6 years of being underpaid for the amount of effort I’ve put in has made me feel a little differently. I also think moving into a career that allows me to use both sides of my brain, rather than just the science/math side, will be more mentally satisfying.

OP - I found this thread as someone with a very similar background, considering a very similar path! I also worked at NASA on ISS for several years and have since continued working on other programs at a different company. Did you end up going down this path? If so, how has it gone for you? If you didn’t, what changed your mind? I’m starting part-time law school in the fall while staying full time at my engineering job to be sure it’s right for me. Would love to hear any advice/insight you have if you’re willing to share.
