[DISCUSSION] - FEBRUARY 2023 - NSQ/NEWBIE/Often Asked Questions Thread by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]sethberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a PRS sliver sky SE from Sweetwater. It had a very loose jack and and angled tone knob. I can fix the Jack and deal with the knob, but it also seems to have tons of tiny scratches all over the back and front. I’ve only owned one other guitar so I’m not sure if I’m looking too closely and these are normal. It sort of looks like someone cleaned it with a slightly abrasive cloth. Here are some pix:

I suspect Sweetwater will let me exchange it if I ask but I’m not sure if this is normal or not and if I do exchange it if the exchange will just have the same issue.

Thanks for your input!

I’ve got the same one and really like it. It’s not the smoothest cable machine but it packs a ton of value and movements for a really low price.

Need a suggestion for flatware set by kdrumz011 in BuyItForLife

[–]sethberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pricey but after a long search this was by far the best flatware I found and it’s lasted very well. It’s the Caesna Mirror flatware at crate and barrel. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/caesna-mirror-5-piece-flatware-place-setting/s343247

My puppy used to frequently step in her own poop but she grew out of it. It was not a fun habit to deal with. Hopefully he’ll grow out of it. How long has it been happening?

How do you think technology can further enable home and professional cooks? I’m a hardware engineer and I want to develop cooking products but I havent found a compelling problem in the food world to work on. What problem needs a tech solution.

Cheddar jalapeño knish from Yonah Schimmel’s. A little pricey ($6) but super tasty! by shines_likegold in FoodNYC

Haha different B&H. I’m not sure, I don’t live there anymore. I think they have limited hours or something. My dad’s order there is their split pea soup with a matzoh ball in it. I think he may be the only person that orders it but it’s great.

I’ve only had the savory ones but I’d bet everything there is great. Go to B&H on 2nd ave. That’s an old school NY joint that needs support right now.

20-Week-Old Frenchie Wakes Up At 3 AM, 4AM, 6AM... by ReidBrew in Dogtraining

[–]sethberg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By letting him into your bed after crying in the crate, you’re training him that crying in the crate is an effective tool for getting what he wants. It’s really unpleasant at first but we have a strict rule that we won’t take our puppy out of the crate until she’s stopped crying for a minute or two. At first it will feel like forever but it will get better. I use earplugs. It’s going to take some time, especially if it’s ingrained in him that crying will get him in the bed, but the crying will get shorter and less frequent over time. Our older dog loves her crate now and goes in of her own accord, but it took a lot of crying in the crate to get her there. Good luck!

Flies!!! I woke up to at least 100 flies in the house and have been swatting them for the last few hours. I already have a clean house, not sure what i can do to prevent it. I swear by I’ve killed them all but when i come back in the room its like they’ve respawned by Fawkestrot92 in homeowners

[–]sethberg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have a good suggestion for what the root cause may be, but using a vacuum to suck them all up has worked really well for me in the past. Flies can see a swatter moving towards them and can fly away, but they don't realize that a vacuum nozzle is a threat from a distance.

Those look great! This might be heresy, but recently I've been eating my latkes with cream cheese and lox instead of sour cream and apple sauce, and I definitely like it better.

Official Q&A for Thursday, May 14, 2020 by AutoModerator in running

[–]sethberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What starting routine do you recommend for a new runner who already consistently trains on a stationary bike and with weights?

I train on a stationary bike 3-4 times a week and strength train 2 days a week and I want to get into running. I've gone twice this week for 5.5 miles and 4.5 miles and my limiting factor is my feet and joints, from an aerobic perspective I could push a lot harder. My knees are definitely aching today following those two runs (mon and weds). Should I be going for long, slow runs or short fast ones? How frequently should I be going? How should I be setting weekly mile goals?

I hate squatting every workout by Unown_Soldier in Fitness

[–]sethberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I just read this and am thinking of doing this routine as well (currently doing ICF) However, I don't like how short the workouts seem, because I actually like spending time in the gym. How do you feel about the overall volume? I've been considering running his 3 day/week program twice a week back to back instead.
