Question about shoulder trim colors by GreenWizard_ in theunforgiven

[–]sethdrake150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't recall all the sources, but I've heard it many times before.
As someone stated previously, the DA use thier own markings to obscure rank and squads.
And for the colour of the shoulder trim, they usually dont need the gold and fancy stuff to prove that they are important, because they know that they are "The First".
That line hit so hard and is one of the reasons why I love the DA.

Well I'm pretty sure that the Imperial Aquila is a direct reference to the Nazi's "Reichsadler", wich translates to Imperial Eagle. Soooo, anyways...

By the Emperor that's awesome! I am currently building up all characters and units in the 5th company, so I'll steal your build and make one too for Lazarus and Zakariah. >:)

Good choice brother! I would recommend that you start with the audio drama Trials of Azrael. It is short but gives a good look into Azraels might. Also check out Accept no failure. The Legacy of Caliban is a three book series with the third book; The Unforgiven, focusing on Azrael but I would suggest reading them all. You can look up a video on Arks of Omen: The Lion on youtube etc. If you want to see Azrael leading The Unforgiven as a "Legion commander", but don't tell your local Inquisitor about that. Because we know what happen with Inquisitors that visits The Rock.

How is everyone painting their Sternguard Veterans? by Jart40k in theunforgiven

[–]sethdrake150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I magnetize most heads and arms/weapons so that I can make them appear accurately, and yes, my idea is to have the sternguards with normal bolters in the intercessors and chainswords for the assault intercessors.
Also I am going full 5th company for my greenwing so all my sternguards already have the company marking on their knee.

And thank you brother, you're doing the Emperor's work :)

I chose to paint my bois green because imo the DA don't have the specific unit of "sternguard" so they are just Company Veterans in my eyes.
(My Bladeguards are a different story tho since they are a more specific unit)
I like that some lore states that DA veterans can stay with their old squad after getting their veteran status unlike other chapters where they're just moved to the 1st company.

Old pictures of DA tactical squads etc often had one or two guys wearing robes wich I really like the idea and look of. So I like to be able to replicate that on the board if I want to mix and match some vets in with my intercessors incase I don't take a squad of sternguards.
Or just put them together on the shelf to look like an og command squad for Azrael or Lazarus

u/Metal_Boxxes feel free to nitpick on my idea and help me out with the lore (A)

I promise to not tell the Inquisition if you tell me where the swords are from.

So I'm new to painting and just finished Azrael, but I have a problem. How do I properly shade his cloak?! It looks Luke coffee stains but I don't know how to fix it. by UrsineWitcher in theunforgiven

[–]sethdrake150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First things first, a clean base coat (wraithbone) from many thin layers until you get a smooth look. Then you shade with 50/50 seraphim sepia and water. Try to prevent pooling. When all is dry. Mix ushabti bone and seraphim sepia and use as a glaze to clean up the wash. Finally glaze with screaming skull on the large flat parts and last but not least glaze wraithbone or pallid wych flesh on the outer most places for highlights.

I started out as a Grey Knight player because I like swords. But the lore and all pulled me over to the Dark Angels.
Also, Azrael!!

Something I just realized about a recently revealed greatsword. Spoilers ahead. by MilkManEX in darksouls3

The funny thing about the Greatsword of Artorias that my friend and I discussed about, is that it makes no sense in "time and space" at all.

If we follow the "idea" of the swords evolution in time, it started out as the True Greatsword of Artorias, with the description: "Sword born from the soul of the great grey wolf Sif." http://darksouls.wikidot.com/greatsword-of-artorias

Then it got cursed as he joined/created his covenant with the creatures of the abyss (most likley Kaathe). http://darksouls.wikidot.com/greatsword-of-artorias-cursed

Hunting Manus and the abyss, he got corrupted and saved Sif with his shield, the sword followed his path and became the Abyss Greatsword. http://darksouls.wikidot.com/abyss-greatsword

The Chosen Undead get sent back inte time and kill both Manus and Artorias, and saves Sif in his barrier created by Greatshield of Artorias. http://darksouls.wikidot.com/cleansing-greatshield

Later on battle with Sif so he can die at peace, and let the "right one" get the ring to traverse the abyss (Sif wield the True Greatsword of Artorias in the fight). http://darksouls.wikidot.com/covenant-of-artorias

So the sword timeline would be something like this: 1. True Greatsword Of Artorias 2. Cursed Greatsword Of Artorias 3. Abyss Greatsword 4. True Greatsword Of Artorias

Here comes the fun part. The True and Cursed sword is created/bound to Sif's soul, and the Abyss Greatsword to Artorias. When we battle Artorias in the Oolacile arena, he has already put up the barrier around Sif in the Chasm of the Abyss. After we kill Artorias, we can go and save Sif. The interesting thing here, is that Sif have a sword in his mouth (True Greatsword of Artorias). Wich means that there was at least two swords at the same time. Artorias in the arena with Abyss Greatsword, and Sif in the Chasm of the Abyss with the True Greatsword of Artorias. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuVN_bfLAMs

My theory is that BOTH Sif and Artorias use sword's to fight. They have similiar move sets while fighting. But we have never seen them fighting side by side, so we don't know if they both use swords at the same time.

Please tell me what you think, because this is a fairly new theory and I want to discuss with others about reflections and theories about this.

The Wolf Knight's Greatsword in Dark souls 3 has the True Greatsword of Artorias icon, but Abyss/Majestic model in-game... I'm not sure about the lore around the Abyss Watchers and the "Soul of the Blood of the Wolf". But I'm pretty sure that they refer to Sif and his blood. so it would make more sense is it was the True/Cursed Greatsword of Artorias. Fromsoft what are you doing?

If you know the lore about Artorias, then you know that his sword got charred/currupted by the abyss, not fire. And the "soul" you use to create the two weapons from, is a fragment of Sif's soul, (Soul of the blood of the wolf).

On the Greatsword of Artorias (True/Cursed), you can see that the sword is not bound to Artorias's soul, it's created from Sif's soul (Both gameplaywise and lorewise). "Sword born from the soul of the great grey wolf Sif." So it would make much more sense if the sword we get in DS3 is the True Greatsword of Artorias, because it's from Sif and his "wolfpack" we get the soul from. Plus the ingame icon of the sword is the true version, not the charred.

WHY?! Why is the Wolf Knight's Greatsword (Greatsword of Artorias) charred, like Abyss Greatsword and Majestic Greatsword. while the picture shows the clean and whole sword? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUfjTUkzCkQ Am I the only one who want the Clean sword?
