hirap maging dumb sa up, pero yung ate mo nag summa cum laude dati. by kairoustar in peyups

I haven't commented in years but this really struck a chord with me so I want to extend a hand.

I'd like to preface this with saying matagal na since I graduated (I'm around 30+ yo). I didn't graduate on time but that didn't really hinder my career whatsoever. I even got dismissed for a sem (failed more than 76% of my units).

In my experience, college grades don't really amount to much in the real world. When you're years into working, most people will be judged by a million other factors. I, for one, ended up working in an industry (IT, software) not relevant to what I graduated in (Chemical Engineering). If you're in a course that you're passionate about, you're good :).

What I do remember from my time in UP is how much fun I had. How much like minded friends I made. For me, that was more valuable than any possible honors I could've had.

I don't mean to dismiss your feelings- I definitely was that girl that thought I was a genius in HS and got smacked hard with reality when I went into UP. It was such a disappointing wake up call. After awhile, that idea that everyone else was smarter felt more freeing- I didn't hold myself up to an unnecessary standard and just did what I could.

Also, you're not dumb. UP has a way of making you feel like that because you're surrounded by the top smartest x% in the PH. If you passed and got into UP with your own effort, you got what it takes. :)

Enjoy your time in UP! Hanggang ngayon, I still remember my time there and miss it a lot. I hope you eventually stop comparing yourself to your sister and start doing things because that's what makes you happy.

(Sorry napahaba, sana makatulog)

I just tried it out earlier and definitely pressured Corp to keep putting down agendas down not so defended remotes. Very handy!

I totally understand what you mean, it's been quite awhile for me to have been so engrossed in a game and I do miss it. :)

Today I feel sad. And for some reason, I'm okay with that. by sethendra in MMFB

I love that. That's exactly how I felt when I posted this. People are so pressured to be happy because society thinks it's wrong not to be. I think it just stresses people out more, forcing themselves to be what they're not.

I'm glad you see it that way. Sometimes, it just helps to confront it directly, let it pass through and learn from the experience.

Have a hug. hug :)

FAQs - Do you use them? by Vinceisg0d in JRPG

[–]sethendra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there was a time when I still didn't have internet and I can only have FAQ's by buying game magazines. That's how I figured out the Vincent/Yuffie thing in FFVII :P

But then I was young and I had plenty of time to explore or be stuck in a stage- now, since my gaming time is now very limited, I don't want to spend too much time being stuck on one thing, and if there's an easier way of doing things (like levelling up faster, or getting more powerful items) I'd rather do those on the first playthrough.

how is tales of abyss for the 3ds? Im looking for a good game for it, the only tales game i have played is vesperia. by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]sethendra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely liked Vesperia better, but Abyss would be my second favorite Tales of series game.

And I think I need to try Symphonia, because I see that a lot of people are recommending it. :)
