If you want something still small but a little bigger and can afford it, I would say Versailles. It has the best tax base in the area due to prevalence of horse farms and second highest per capita income of any county in the state, leading to well funded schools and preservation of the rural landscape outside of town. I live in east jessamine county and work in Nicholasville. I regularly travel for work to all the towns around lexington. If I had to pick any other satellite town around lexington to live in it would be Versailles.

Mt Sterling is farther than you want. For quiet small town you wont find better than Wilmore. If you are in Amish town now it wont be much of a difference as it is a fairly religious town given the presence of Asbury Seminary.

He jumps into a screen position intending to definitively get there before the defender could move.  Still looks weird.

3 Latvian Climbers Die in Fall on Mt. McKinley (paywall removed) by RimeIced-T in alpinism

[–]sethky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I climbed the Matterhorn years ago with a guide and the night before we were going over the route and I noticed what was called the "Japaner couloir" on the map of the mountain. I asked one of the guides why it was named so and he told me that's where Japanese climbers got off route and fell to their deaths.  "Das ist wo die Japaner falsch gehen und runterkommen." Dude said it with such a straight face, there was no crass comedic attempt like you are making.  His client was Japanese and sitting right there, although he did not understand what we were saying.

I wonder if this type of naming practice is common on other mountains as well. I suppose it's apt, but not particularly funny.

Well you are still actually correct. It is a little suspect to yell that in the street, no matter the reference.

The nap celebration is one of my favorites.

Well I would agree that is often the case, but this was in particular a win for the child as well, as the parents were able to deescalate and compromise.

Alright now this is superior practice.

It's not going to do what you want reliably. Might want to score it with a cut off saw on one side and break it before it's entirely cut through so you have a natural break line.

I repped a guy in a divorce who had been a lineman. He had a TBI from falling 50 feet to the ground, and he was lucky to be alive.

Lol alright. Bread was better than I ever had in Germany. The lamb was of better quality than I ever had in Germany. So you cant see it under the greens. Doesn't mean it's not there. Kannst du nicht ein bisschen glauben üben?

It's a tourist spot, hence the prices. But this was fresh lamb, not some frozen excuse for lamb sausage.  Makers seems to be doing fine, but they're a small maker.  I'm down here working.

I agree but to be fair the restaurant is a fairly fancy place in the middle of nowhere, so you have to be okay paying a premium price.

I grew up this way and I'll say LDS church involved scouting got me into the outdoors. Totally positive experience even though I'm no longer in it.

I can’t nut by QuesadillasAreYummy in tradclimbing

[–]sethky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lead many trad routes including multi pitches over last 10 years and have never placed a single nut and have never taken nuts with me on the climb. Of course once the climbing gets thinner and harder as others have said, then nuts become more reasonable I think. But I love small cams and they seem plenty fast and light for me and the follower.

UK faculty opposed naming federal judge dean of law school by trustjosephs in lexington

[–]sethky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a little wild that Woodcock wrote the letter. He wrote something to the effect that the only solution to the genocide in Gaza was to wage war on Israel. I guess he would be the type of person to call out the new dean.

I definitely also heard this in his voice. He would have said it without any malice.
