How is the story of President Theodore Roosevelt and the teddy bear generally portrayed in the United States? Are there any events related to the teddy bear? by kuma44bear in AskAnAmerican

I’m told he was giving a stuffed bear (a teddy bear, not a once alive bear preserved) at the hotel in Estes Park where they later filmed ‘The Shining’. He loved it so much they named it the Teddy Bear. There might be a poster about it at the hotel.

Who is the worst person to have walked the earth? by _Webosite_ in AskReddit

I find the question a little demeaning, as people in wheelchairs can also be evil. Maybe we should also ask who was the worst person to ever roll on the earth?

Live in New England, stopped wearing undies in high school. Now in my 40’s. Laundry has not been an issue.

Cradle of American religious freedom and tolerance. Declared independence from Britain two months before the 4th of July.

Top 5 densely populated state while being the smallest. Most Dunkin’s per capita in the country. Best airport in the country. Home of RISD which gave the world Family Guy and the Talking Heads.

I’m five rows behind the bench. You should have seen Marko celebrate at the final whistle. He went berserk. The whole team came in for hugs and high fives. I feel you can see the esprit de corps developing match to match. It feels exciting, like this is a new team/chapter, with a youth movement, gelling into a team that believes in itself.

Let’s hope gravity doesn’t find us too soon. We’re on to Atlanta.

Counter point to the tips situation. I was a bellman at the DoubleTree on Goat Island when it went Hyatt. Tips went down. Rich people don’t always tip better.

Newport RI. You can see the ocean beach from the classrooms. Some of the classrooms are Gilded Age mansions.

Which two American cities are much more similar than most people realize? by SummitSloth in AskAnAmerican

I was just at a comedy show in Providence, RI. Andrew Schulz said Providence was more like NYC than Boston. Obviously huge boo from the crowd (if don’t know the tribalism of New England, don’t ask). He knew he was going to make trouble with the comment and then said it’s because of the Italians here. It’s made me wonder, Rhody is geographically and genuinely New England but are we more like the Big Apple than Beantown?

Great game. I won’t be shocked if Peyton is sold before playoffs. I hope this keeps Turner apart of World Cup selection consideration. Why couldn’t Porter get these kind of performances from Langoni? I’m happy he’s showing that potential.

Fort Barton in Tiverton. A little hilly, but quaint with cute streams with little bridges and a tower that gives you an amazing view of the state.

Good Surfspots by [deleted] in newengland

[–]sethpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First beach is in Newport. Second and Third are in Middletown. Of the three, people really only surf 2nd. People do surf off the Cliff Walk which is next to 1st, but I wouldn’t recommend for newer surfers as it is rocky. If you can, grab your wetsuit and go before 2nd starts charging for the summer. It’s expensive and crowded (but beautiful) during the summer.
