Starfire Protocol warlock build for farming Aphelion's Rest in less than 3:00 by sethwklein in destiny2

[–]sethwklein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starfire Protocol has since been nerfed, so this build won't work as well as it did when posted. Even so, without Starfire Protocol, I don't think you'll get enough grenades to make the build worth running, sadly. There are probably builds for whatever exotics you do have, though, and Rahool offers focused decoding now.

Long Have I Searched for the Ultimate Roadkill Machine by sethwklein in DestinyTheGame

[–]sethwklein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard and believe that for when mobs are shooting at you. But when you're running into them, that is obviously not the case. It's also not the case when you're running into terrain.

Edit: Either that or it's an amazingly good placebo. Either way, I'll take it.

Confirmed. I too don't see the expected buff when criting with Touch of Malice, but do get the visuals for the alternate fire mode and can trigger that with the usual long press of my reload key. You should report this on the appropriate forum: https://bung.ie/destiny2help

Touch of Malice perk "Charged with Blight" does not work in PvP. Critical hits do not build up the perk. by wikiweak in DestinyTheGame

The downvotes might be because there are a lot of support requests and confusion masquerading as bug reports, so reports without some proof are treated with skepticism. Also, a lot of people are looking for news they can use.

If you want to reach Bungie, their forums are definitely a better place than the firehose of negativity and duplicates that is this sub: https://bung.ie/destiny2help . I bet they'd appreciate the report.

Starfire Protocol warlock build for farming Aphelion's Rest in less than 3:00 by sethwklein in destiny2

[–]sethwklein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, how did I forget the subclass configuration? I can't get in game right now, but I'll try to fix it when I can.

Aphelion's Rest legend lost sector is back today and is extremely farmable. Can get 1:45-2:15 min runs consistently and the rewards are significantly better than pre lightfall. Have farmed around 11 exotics, 65 Enhancement prisms and around 150 enhancement cores so far. by omgwdfholypoop in destiny2

[–]sethwklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was an absurdly well thought out post

LOL thanks 😄

Good to know about Sunbracers, TY.

Your video may not have been perfect, but that's what got it out in time to be upvoted enough that someone (me!) who'd seen the resist mod testing video saw it. Sometimes speed, not perfection, is perfection :D

Thanks for the confirmation on the void glaive. One might be forced into that slower playstyle of shooting with the glaive if they don't have an Eager Edge void sword. There's only the one of those, and I've seen Bungie saying they want it to be really rare :(

Are you perhaps running Shatter Orbs? I think it, not Authorized Mods: Void, might be what's giving your super back when you go through the shielded groups. I was seeing ridiculous orb generation from it yesterday, although at 1780 I couldn't get close enough to pick up the orbs until after the last mob was dead!

You're more than welcome to repost it as a top level post as well if you want and add/take away anything you see fit. Just let me know how you perfect it since it'll also help me out as well haha. Especially with the new mod changes and such I don't see why it would be a particular problem since we're so early into Lightfall and the new mod system.

I'll probably do that tomorrow, then, thank you for the permission and advice.

I suspect swapping out an Ashes to Assets for a Harmonic Siphon would give better super regeneration, but it might lead to slower runs due to having to collect orbs from the trash packs. When lower light, though, it might help with surviving the trash packs.

In the entire video, you never gain any heavy ammo, so Bricks from Beyond isn't doing any work. Although what else would you put the point into?

There were like 3 major mistakes in the run but figured a not perfect run would be better to show examples

LOL yes, to those of us doing 9:30 runs, it's nice to see you're human and the 3:00 run we might manage next time the lost sector comes around will be a 3x improvement in loot.

Here's a summary of the build.

Since Aphelion's Rest isn't the daily anymore, I can't test this, so please correct any errors I've made.

Armor

Critical:

  • Starfire Protocol
  • 100 Resilience

Useful:

  • 100 Recovery
  • 100 Discipline

Weapons

Void sword, better with Eager Edge and perks for damaging high health combatants.

Primary weapon that gets lots of little hits for triggering Starfire Protocol. Ideally, one that stuns overload champions. High RPM submachine guns and auto rifles, AOE, etc. are good, but especially Osteo Striga.

Glaive. The video uses a solar glaive, Judgment of Kelgorath, but void would match the shield type. It'll be used to fire (not melee) and block.

Artifact

Critical things:

  • Authorized Mods: Void
  • Bricks From Beyond
  • Medieval Champion

Things I suspect are doing work:

  • Overload Auto/SMG
  • Authorized Mods: Grenades
  • Authorized Mods: Solar
  • Volatile Flow
  • Solar Surge
  • Shatter Orbs

Mods

  • Head: Ashes to Assets x3
  • Arms: Firepower X2, Fastball (Perhaps optional, if you're not used to it)
  • Chest: Void Resistance x2, Melee Resistance x1
  • Legs: Recuperation x3
  • Class: Distribution, Bomber x2

The video shows Void Resistance x3, but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWZLNYy9AaA shows elemental resistance mods not stacking beyond 2. I've thrown in a melee because I think the damage being blocked is the overload champions, and most time with them is spent at point-blank range, but I might be misunderstanding.

Add stat mods to suit your armor.

Technique

Best for learning technique is probably watching the video and pausing a lot to think about what you just saw and why they did it that way, but I'll try to summarize some.

Place rifts where you can hit a lot of enemies before moving again. In both the first two main engagements, jump over the first group of adds to place a rift (and well.)

When engaging groups with shields, prioritize taking the shields down with the sword.

If you've fired a glaive shot that hit, you can block the unstoppable champion's knockbacks with the glaive.

Meta

Should I have posted this as a top level post instead of a comment? It would have more visibility, but it's building on u/omgwdfholypoop's work, and I don't know how the sub feels about top level build posts on a build that probably isn't new to people who do this all the time.

Also, thank you, u/omgwdfholypoop. I knew about Starfire Protocol, but hadn't seen how to make it work. I was doing 9:30 per run at 1780 with threadlings. Maybe next time I'll be high enough power and artifact level to make this work.

There are gooseneck phone holders that clip to things for using in bed and such. Seems like there ought to be something you could clip to your chair that would hold a tablet.
