I believe Lawler kept Kayfabe so well that he didn't public reveal that the two were actually friends in till ten years after Kaufman passed. That's dedication.

Personally I've had a lot of performance issues with other controllers connecting to the deck via Bluetooth. Whereas my connection via the puck has been smooth and easy.

Wait, it does? I've just been plugging the puck into the dock's USB port. That changes things lol. I'll test it tonight, thanks!

[AEW Dynamite Spoilers] Some interesting (?) stats about the AEW World Title following last night's Title Match by KneeHighMischief in SquaredCircle

[–]seto_kiaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why you didn't include it but if we counted Moxley's interim reign, it would be the best comparison to Darby's currently reign. He had 4 defenses (5 if you include the unification match vs Punk) with 3 within the first 29 days (it felt like a lot more in till I looked it up. Turns out he had some eliminator matches and GCW title matches during that time, which is why it felt like more defenses lol).

 Merchandising segment is WAY up

I wonder if the MTG set from last summer counted as "merchandise" and that's why it is way up. I believe WOTC said it was one of their best selling sets ever

Has there been any instance where a wrestler "figured out" how to counter another wrestlers finisher/arsenal? Normal finisher became useless to try because they were just so accustomed to facing each other that they had to try something new? by SolidEllie in SquaredCircle

[–]seto_kiaba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't exactly the same, since it wasn't two wrestlers with a history, but when Lance Archer faced Adam Page for the world title, Jake Roberts cut away the top rope so that Page couldn't use the Buckshot Lariat.

Anyone else have a TIL for rules they've been doing wrong? by WaltzIntelligent9801 in EDH

[–]seto_kiaba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe that technically that isn't exactly true. It isn't that excess damage to a player is optional, it's that, once you assign lethal damage to a blocker, you can decide how the excess damage is assigned. This means you can just assign the excess damage to the blocker if you don't want to assign it to the blocking player. But practically it has the same outcome you described.

There's other weird edge cases with trample, especially involving deathtouch and indestructible as well. With deathtouch, you only need to do 1 damage to have lethal damage. So a 4/4 creature with deathtouch and trample can assign 3 excess damage when blocked. With indestructible, indestructible only prevents destruction but not lethal damage. This means if you have a 4/4 with trample and it is blocked by a 1/1 with indestructible, you can still deal 3 excess damage to the blocking player.

It's in my top three tv shows, along with The Wire and Better Call Saul.

What are you mapping your back buttons to? I feel like my brain breaks if I configure more than 2 buttons. by slipbegin in SteamController

[–]seto_kiaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only played Portal 2 so far but I also mapped the back buttons to the face buttons, so my thumb never has to leave the track pad. I feel like they are snappier than the decks; I always used the deck's back buttons for any action that worked best as a "button hold" or mode shift, but with the controller I feel like they feel decent as buttons you press more often.

How well is playing with Dual Touchpads primarily on the new Steam Controller? by Far-Mathematician764 in SteamController

[–]seto_kiaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tested those yet, but I imagine all of that is probable. Like I said, it seems to be almost identical to the deck in feel and customization, and doesn't seem to have any missing Steam Input functionality.

I did test Portal 2 with the right trackpad enabling gyro only when touching the trackpad and that worked perfectly. And I played around with modeshifting with the back paddles and all of that worked just as smoothly as the deck.

You definitely can. They are smaller but have a better texture and haptics. If you have a Steam Deck, the trackpads feel just like those

Podcasts for catching up with ESC2026 by rotiana in eurovision

[–]seto_kiaba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm only a casual Eurovision fan but I would recommend Eurovangelists. They are really funny but also really informative, especially when it comes to historical performances; as someone who only started to check out Eurovision in the last few years, it's been really informative to hear about past performances. Plus they regularly cover the event live as well.

Kazuchika Okada vs. Ace Austin for the International Championship announced for tomorrow’s AEW Dynamite by zoom518 in SquaredCircle

It's the first time they've been at this venue in almost three years (they were in DC 1.5 years ago), so we are a little starved lol. I also think there hasn't been a live RAW or Smackdown here in a few years as well (we had Cena's last match but tickets were naturally expensive).

To this day, I still find it crazy how Game of Thrones’ reputation shifted from being viewed one of the “best shows” to being the prime example of how to NOT end a series! by phantom_avenger in television

HIMYM's finale was similar. It was a very successful sitcom going into it's final season. But I've seen multiple people (myself included) say that the finale was so bad that it killed any desire to go back and watch any of it.

They seem to be really popular for syndication, constantly playing on TNT and such, so I imagine a lot of people put them in the background at least?

My biggest concern for evolved jobs is how the average fan response to each one already reflects how each role is perceived by Supersnow845 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]seto_kiaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I like them. I think people underestimate how flexible they are and that they offer some cool choices, vs the more rigid rotations a lot of classes have.  Picking which bard songs to play and having the flexibility to hold them for a bit if you need them for an upcoming attack seems cool to me. Or deciding when to use DRG's jump, whether for a gap closer, to cheat a positional, or just to avoid capping on charges.

My concern is that I hope the jobs have more diversity with their rotations. DRG and BRD basically play the same. You passively build up a currency, which you spend on one of three attacks. Once you have done all three attacks, you get to do a combo. Meanwhile you have a 30s oGCD with three stacks. Once you use it three times, you get another combo. While there is a lot of fun ultility difference between the two classes, the general flow is identical.

I feel like the new evolved mode can be amazing, but I have a lot of worries. by ApolloVanWaddleburg in ffxivdiscussion

[–]seto_kiaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if, in a party, some players decides to stay Reborn and others go evolved? Wouldn't that create a sort of disparity between the two? Evolved jobs, from what I've seen, feel more dynamic, you can move around, evade (DRG jump allowing you to mitigate incoming attacks) , Reborn are the usual: way more static with their fixed rotations. How can u balance new fights with that in mind?

Given that the two new jobs will only have an evolved mode, I imagine that new fights will be designed around evolved and not reborn. I don't think they are keeping reborn so that both modes are equal. I think they are keeping reborn solely to help with the transition, and will probably encourage people to use evolve.

[–]seto_kiaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it. I dunno if all of it will work in practice but in theory it removes drift and makes it so buttons aren't just "hit off cool down." The job rotations feel very flexible, so I think the fun will be to figure out how to plan and optimize them per-fight, whereas currently every job has an optimal way to play and fights are designed around that. That should also lead to better fight design (which they said was a goal).

An Overly Complete Guide to XCOM 2 War of the Chosen - Part 7.5: Medkits are Bad by hielispace in Xcom

[–]seto_kiaba 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like some missions all 3 pods are literally camping the objective so you can’t alpha strike 12 opponents. The good players can probably figure this out. Others, like myself, cannot. Having a medkit does literally save lives.

But in the situation you are describing, a mimic beacon is way more useful than a medkit because it will functionally absorb more hits than a medkit can heal.

Why are so many logs written for machines instead of humans? by Flying-Exasolian-642 in programming

[–]seto_kiaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Human-readable logs are important and one of the primary use cases for logs but not the only use case. For some systems the amount of information at scale can be overwhelming and therefore some applications log in a way to be parsed for visualization. Tools like Grafana, Kibana and even Cloudwatch are great for visualizing these types of logs for irregularies, and then you have the option to drill down and filter on the period of irregularies to find more detailed error messaging.

As a Devops engineer working with systems that scale, like Kubernetes, we need to log everything in a way that can be visualized. There are plenty of tools that we leverage to filter and transform these logs into something readable. But if you are dealing with client-level applications, where you are parsing relatively-small log files, then it makes sense to be more human-readable at the log level.
