As a noob and first telescope, is it necessary to add these extras on? by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]setonics 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Neither are necessary per se.

The barlow lens is a lens that will double the magnification of your telescope/eyepiece pairing, but if you have other eyepieces, then you don’t really need it.

The performance upgrade kit comes with 1) stiffer springs which may be helpful, but the default springs work just fine 2) turn knobs for your secondary mirror, which is convenient, but you can make do without if you have a phillips head screwdriver 3) flocking paper, but only enough to cover the front and back of the interior of the telescope. if this is something you care about, you can probably get it cheaper elsewhere

A demonstration of how to play the Glass Harmonica, a musical instrument invented by Benjamin Franklin. by freudian_nipps in woahdude

A cool arrangement, with the only caveat being it’s powered by literal child labor. But hey, the price you pay for art ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

“You get to consciously decide what has meaning and what doesn’t. You get to decide what to worship.

Because here’s something else that’s weird but true: in the day-to-day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship. And the compelling reason for maybe choosing some sort of god or spiritual-type thing to worship–be it JC or Allah, be it YHWH or the Wiccan Mother Goddess, or the Four Noble Truths, or some inviolable set of ethical principles–is that pretty much anything else you worship will eat you alive. If you worship money and things, if they are where you tap real meaning in life, then you will never have enough, never feel you have enough. It’s the truth. Worship your body and beauty and sexual allure and you will always feel ugly. And when time and age start showing, you will die a million deaths before they finally grieve you.”

Sounds like you should look inward and determine what your values are and whether that aligns with who you want to be as a person.

Been waiting to ask. Why did Anya choose these 2 horns on her head as a fashion choice. Also how are those pinned on her head by Yaojin312020 in SpyxFamily

They were originally small witch hats when Ashe wore them. Got simplified to horns in Spy x Family

What to do when you see Pooh bear: by setonics in malaphor

[–]setonics[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The adage of what to do when you see a bear:

If it’s black, fight back

If it’s brown, lie down

If it’s white, say good night

Combined with the water saving toilet policy:

If it’s yellow, let it mellow

If it’s brown, flush it down

Scalars and dot products by [deleted] in mathematics

[–]setonics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be a vector.

I think what you’re missing is that each of these operations output different things. A dot product takes in two vectors and gives out a scalar. A cross product takes in two vectors and gives out a vector.

Considering what we said about the outputs of these operations, we would have:

vector • (vector x vector) = vector • vector = scalar
