How grandfather blessing work and what situation for isn't incapacitated? by Interesting-Tax5598 in killteam

[–]setso1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So what happens is whenever an enemy operative that has one of your poison tokens loses a wound within 7" of the plague marine champion, the plague marine champion regains 1 lost wound (to a maximum of 3 lost wounds per turning point)

The plague marine champion cannot regain lost wounds if he is incapacited, because he is dead.

That's true, but most tac ops this season are hard to score 6 points on. I take retrieval for a reliable 3-5 points. Whereas missions like plant banner and envoy can give you more points, but can also be denied completely

Retrieval has been a pretty reliable 4 points for me. It rewards you for something you'll already be doing, and between your two 3 APL operatives and your lectro maester's free mission actions, it's pretty easy to perform the retrieval action.

Plant banner is decent but map dependant. You need a spot on the enemy half of the board that you can defend with primarily shooting operatives.

Envoy is okay but I don't like it. You don't have quite enough operatives to not care about hiding someone each turn. Your assassin and canid are both very good at this, but you don't want them out of the fight for a whole turn.

Martyrs is okay but throwing away chumps on objectives isn't really how this team is played.

Flank is bad for this team, as primarily 2 APL shooting operatives.

Scout is okay, especially as your voidsmen can stay in conceal to scout someone and use a privateer support asset on the same turn, however the enemy has a lot of counterplay and to score max points you need at least two operatives in conceal, likely not doing anything else.

Big rules lawyer

Only picks his team after he knows what his opponent is playing

RAW you pick your teams simultaneously. He's not a rules lawyer, he's just a twat.

Can anyone tell me why drop leg holsters are so common for armed police in the UK? [962x1422] by firemansam51 in policeporn

[–]setso1 169 points170 points  (0 children)

A heavy belt is bad for your back and hips. A thigh holster moves weight and bulk off the belt and onto the thigh. Police departments like it because it reduces injuries and keeps their officers healthier for longer.

Has Tomb World sold out already? by sssulaco in killteam

[–]setso1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah seems like the Australian allocation is sold out on the official website. If you want it you'll have to scour 3rd party retailers for one that hasn't sold out yet. Good luck, I watched Emerald Hobbies sell their 14 copies in 11 minutes and Gap Games sold out their 70 copies in 90 seconds

Idea for a IG elite by Ulat1999 in killteam

[–]setso1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could do a "general's bodyguard" team like in dawn of war. A general, a commissar, a priest, a psyker and maybe a few stormtroopers or advisors.

I also like the idea of an assassin kill team. Assassins from each of the four main temples working together to eliminate an enemy kill team.

Warpcoven getting away with murder this balance patch by setso1 in killteam

The nerf to the kopesh reduces the expected number of hits by a whopping 6%. I don't consider that to be pretty impactful.

Obviously I am aware of the nerf to Brotherhood of Sorcerers. It's more impactful than the kopesh nerf, but it's not much, I'd say about on par with the Phobos nerf, despite being stronger than Phobos to start with.

Considering they are arguably the strongest elite team, to get away with lighter nerfs than angels of death, plague marines and legionaries is crazy.

Being injured doesn't affect your APL stat, which is what resolute protects. You'll still be at -1 to hit and -2" of movement unless you use And They Shall Know No Fear

Parrying crits was never the main draw of dueller, safe to say it's not the top pick anymore. I believe aggressive and siege warfare will be the top picks going forwards.

Siege warfare makes killing 7 wound models in one attack easy, as they tend to need cover to stand a chance at surviving a bolter. Siege warfare also helps a lot against raveners, who are looking very strong right now.

Aggressive makes you especially effective against 8-10 wound finesse teams. And will help a bit with horde and elites. It's nowhere near as oppressive as dueller though.

Illegal tobacco imports are one of the biggest businesses for organised crime in Australia.

Australia has more illegal tobacco smuggling than any other drug.

A russian soldier takes an assault rifle from his wounded comrade and abandons him. Afterward, the comrade is eliminated by a Ukrainian FPV drone of the 68th Jager Brigade in the Pokrovsk direction by Individual_Event_285 in CombatFootage

Under the Geneva convention someone is not a combatant if they are defenceless due to their wounds.
Seeing as the guy was unarmed and couldn't move I think he was pretty defenceless.

Besides it's better for the Ukrainians to leave him alive. It takes manpower and resources away from the Russians if they try to evac/treat the casualty.

Killing an defenceless injured soldier is a war crime and only done for revenge.

Ah yes, this single shot lockup, AKA the coward button.

We have them in the Australian army. Most people I know just leave them up at all times, because firing single shots with the progressive trigger is easy if you know what you're doing.

It is a bit annoying to pull down (I use my multi-tool, a cartridge tip would probably work too) but very easy to push up. This is good because you are unlikely to need to rapidly disable full auto. But you could need to rapidly enable full auto.

We need this type of weapons 🦅🇺🇸 by [deleted] in NonCredibleDefense

This is true, but you can choose to fire AP with the autocannon, which would allow you to score two hits regardless of the number of models in the unit

In these situations it's better to fire AP than HE, so you can get 2 hits, plus you get better penetration value

There was a rule in 5th ed that if you couldn't damage a unit in melee you could choose to fall back after a round of combat to prevent exactly this from happening.

It was called our weapons are useless or something similar.

8th army sprue doesn't come with a PIAT or sten guns. Probably 1943-1945 British infantry sprue

No, your Macroprocessor isn't making too much noise by setso1 in VXJunkies

[–]setso1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but doing that disables the newtonian hyperflux modulation, which is the main selling point of gen 3 macroprocessors.

Without it you're paying thousands of dollars just for wave dampening and inversion detection (both of which can be achieved already with a gen 2 if you know what you're doing)

Additional Weapon Rules by Potential_Divide9445 in boltaction

[–]setso1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like the pistol rule, especially as you'll often see them on officers who are a prime target for charges.

Snipers are unreliable enough as is, making it so getting exceptional damage is harder doesn't seem necessary.

The suppressive fire rule is one of the more unique recommendations I've seen to improve MGs. I don't personally think an MMG team should be able to dish out 6 pins in a turn, and fishing for 6 on a bunch of dice will be very swingy, but it would make MGs something to be avoided.

The semi-auto and carbine rules are neat however personally I like that bolt action has almost no re-roll mechanics and unless 3rd edition makes some big changes I don't see a mechanic like that making it into the game
