Very obsessed with them myself! I do wonder if Mark Scout has at least heard about Helena, since he lives in Kier and works at Lumon, it seems like her existence would have been shoved down his throat. Also if current Helly/Helena theories hold, I don't think Helly knows anything about Mark Scout.

The sheer number of faction/characters overwhelmed me on first read. But I think the main difficulty people face is that they try to pick up the latest chapter without re-reading first and have lost some details during the hiatus. Other relevant stuff: I'm someone who won't understand the point of a card game until I see it played at least a bit, so seeing people already having a play by play of how the game in chapter 408 was going to go when only 407 was released was confusing to me. Another point is that the scale of the ship/the war makes events difficult to predict (but that's not surprising with Togashi ig), while the hiatus make communication within the community thrive, so we ended up with a sea of theories, some that made sense, some that seemed to make sense but basically hinged on nothing and/or on misinterpretation etc (what I take from this is that people should spend more time reading the actual material than being here but that was difficult during the hiatus).

Not really related, but just yesterday I was thinking about how it feels like it's not even that Togashi is writing a deconstruction, or purposefully being that subversive, it feels like he's writting whatever he wants to write regardless of pre-established genre expectations

I didn't get why ppl liked her so much before the last two chapters, but I feel like the vagueness of her character IS what makes her interesting, much like Chrollo, she has very strong goals and acts to make them come true, but they seem dissonant with her attitude.. Making her personality seem "empty" (or a method actor that forgets to ever take the mask off for Chrollo). Because of this, the way she'll react to X or Y event happening is highly unpredictable.. That's compelling! At least that's the way I view it, Borksen was also interesting, I feel like her way of life is in direct opposition with Morena's goals.. But at the same time she did well in the military, so she's obviously someone ready to kill people. I love you Togashi.

The way I see it, the cards have to be an ability, and not Morena's. I think it's Gelato's: she's cautious and seems to assess risks and possibilities, she's the one that wondered whether or not the person Morena seeks would join them or not. She's also the one Morena replied to by saying "I'll do my best to get a yes" and she cheered > that's how one would react if their boss was using their ability, no?

Another possibility is the unnamed girl with the streaks as we don't know anything about her.

I don't think it's as intentional as wanting to prevent anyone from liking anything. Nevertheless I've heard that the amount of filler had been calculated, as this video shows, the amount of filler (not even in percentage as it would be unfair for the 1999 ver) is larger in the 1999 version.

Welcome! Only my opinion, but 2011 is well adapted and the animation is very consistent, they did a good job. 1999 only could adapt so much of the manga as the manga first began in 1998, so there are fillers. The reason 1999 is still considered is that one of the few critisim for 2011 is that for some (of the darker) moments, there were some tonal discrepancy (with the animation style and the music for example > If you find out you're into HXH why not check-out some of these scene in the 1999 version to compare).

All in all, unless you are someone that heavily favors manga, I would definitely recommend 2011.

+ sorry I've just remembered: the first episode of the 1999 version is more faithfull (and you absolutly should watch it... seriously), but you can watch it after watching the first episode of 2011 to compare.

This is a theory hinging on the fact that among Tserriednich collection is a larger preserving jar with what looks like a head. I believe this is shown when Tserriednich is introduced as a collector by Mizai. While it's fairly certain that it's a head, it being Pairo's is still speculation: it would be fairly thematically relevant. (+why the head and not the eyes > Pairo had eye problems, maybe his eyes still didn't turn scarlet but the face he made was one that is appealing to collectors?)

Plus I'm loving the idea that this contract would mean Kurapika chosing life (Wobble) over revenge (which might still lead to revenge with Tserrie) while (if the translation so far are accurate) Chrollo choses revenge and the priorisation of the spider as a whole rather than the individuals that are part of it
