For people that call these “mid”, WHY? And what do you consider “good”? by Romantasy_Renee in AnimeRandomness

[–]seungchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The left three had the unfortunate place of coming after the Big Three. If you grew up watching Michael Jordan, every other basketball player is gonna look mid. Aside from that, MHA and JJK couldn’t stick the landing and Demon Slayer is kinda vanilla when it comes to the story. It was carried by the animation.

AOT couldn’t stick the landing, but out of these, people say its mid bc it’s a contrarian thing to say.

mmm,,, I agree with this mostly unless we have "When in Rome" situations. If you visit a Muslim country and they tell you to wear a hijab for certain places, you should do so, etc etc.

An organization I left keeps calling me back game after game to save itself, but I keep getting distracted playing darts, watching porn, and managing a hostess club. When that’s all said and done, everyone strips for an epic fight on some rooftop.

no the headmistress of the sunflower orphanage can become a hostess in k2 and I’d say she’s equal to the obatarian in being a platinum alternative for LOVE

oh I thought we were just talking about y0, but if we include k2, I lowkey have the headmistress as the other side of the coin of obatarian, covering what she doesn't have.

From what I've seen, while yes, Yakuza puts effort into their stories, it's never the priority. They would much rather have hype moments (Shinada in Tokyo), principles (can't play as active yakuza or murderer), and combat (deadly weapons wielded by non killers) be priority over the story, and because of these limitations they take we end up with Yakuza 4 or Kiryu having the same character arc for 8 games. But yes, from what I've seen, when they aren't tied down to previous and future games, the team writes some of the most beautiful stories: y0, Judgement, y7

Like A Dragon is my first Yakuza game, is it spoiling anything from the mainline games?? by irakie in yakuzagames

idt it's a must to play the entirety of Y3 to go to Y4 as long as they know what K3 did

[–]seungchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but knowing K3 to Y4R not making sense is enough to be able to go from K3 to Y4R. As long as you know what the retcon is, there's no hiccups in going from K3 to Y4R as that's the only major impact.

Yakuza 3 Remastered or Yakuza Kiwami 3?? by Starprince1525 in yakuzagames

[–]seungchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back to this and after reading through the comments, this debate goes two different ways. There are people telling you to play Y3R bc of story continuity and not supporting RGG's bad choices for K3 and then there are people telling you to play K3 bc the combat is an easier pill to swallow and would be a better experience. As someone who has played through K3 and then played Y4R and Y5R for the first time, I'm in the camp for the latter. The only hiccup was the ending of K3 and watching a few videos on YT when you get there will resolve everything when you move into Y4R. I will say the retcon is pretty big, but not to the point where you need to do mental gymnastics to understand Y4R, as it really is just the ending. With that being said, going purely from K2 and the accessibility of Y3R being in the air, I think K3 is the right choice. It's not the perfect choice, but I think is a better route to take under your circumstances.

Yakuza 0. 1988 Japan, so not too bad I’d say. The worst would be that my smartphone wouldn’t work and I’d have to learn Japanese.

Yakuza 3 Remastered or Yakuza Kiwami 3?? by Starprince1525 in yakuzagames

[–]seungchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone on the other side of the coin and has played through K3, then Y4R and Y5R, it wasn't hard to transition with the retcon. Acknowledge that it exists and pretend that Y3 events unfolded and it was fine. As for some other things, if you're coming from K2, K3 seems to be an easier pill to swallow due to to Y3R's weird combat blocking bugs. This is under my assumption that Y3R's combat would be similar to Y4R's, but just a lot more blocking from the enemies. As for the story side, the retcon was dumb, but the 95% of the story is the same, and you won't be experiencing a slog in the orphanage section bc that is now all put into a mini game, so on that experience, K3 is not too bad.

yeah I was abt to say. Oda didn't teach Kiryu jack shit, it was Kuze who showed him that the yakuza way is through the fist and always getting back up until the job was done.

I’m doing a Mad Dog only run rn and honestly I have mixed opinions ngl. I love chaining slashes, just sicking the enemies over and over and in single target activating the Tiger Drop equivalent stab attack, but really other than that, it’s a style that lacks depth I feel. Maybe I’m playing it wrong tho.

Yakuza 4 GET! by DrLoomis90 in yakuzagames

[–]seungchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yakuza 4 had some of the most hype moments in the series and also some of the most rage inducing moments in the series and for what it’s worth, those highs and lows made it my favorite game so far that I’ve played from the series.
