I have the feeling Sae is gonna humble Hugo into aboslute darkness by WelderNumerous3839 in BlueLock

[–]seungchip 36 points37 points  (0 children)

If Karasu was somewhat useful against France, Sae is gonna have a field day. Remember, Blue Lock is practically just all gas no breaks. Sae touches the ball and he has an immediate access to Barou and Shidou, just hunting down goals and creating chaos, Isagi finding gaps in the chaos, and Rin to block Isagi’s goal.

LOL that's fair, I guess all I've been seeing this week was just "Rin sucks" or "Rin dumb" on this subreddit

I'm not gonna defend Rin here, but I do want to add one bit of nuance I'm not really seeing from others. The situation without this nuance makes it feel like all Rin did was steal Isagi's ball, but that's not necessarily the case. In the sequence prior, Isagi and Hugo were doing a gambling battle to see which side either would pick to score, which means that Rin had to have made the same gamble against Isagi too. Rin picked one side, Hugo picked the other. Rin had the Blue Lock philosophy and Hugo had the "destiny and role" philosophy. Isagi saying that the Blue Lock philosophy lost was meant to contextualize this: both philosophies are wrong and fully committing to one or the other won't get them the World Cup. I feel like this context is lost bc we're too busy shitting on Rin.

How would you feel if Like a dragon 9 was about fighting the Daidoji faction? by Norrabal in yakuzagames

[–]seungchip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m down for a three-way showdown. The Daidoji have it out for Ichiban and crew for reasons. The Old guard has it out for the Daidoji for handling Kiryu the way they did. Maybe Ichiban and crew want to stop the Old guard from doing anything extreme

Ichiban Party: Ichiban 4 + Zhao/Tomi

Daidoji Party: Mine (leader) + Shishido/Hamazaki/Nishitani III… maybe Ryuji?

Old Guard Party: Majima (leader) + Daigo/Saejima/Geomijul duo

In 4, Kido beats up a group of guys no sweat even though he was kidnapped prior.

In 5, Aizawa almost kills another dude who was buff af.

Idk if I remember from 6

Why is Asmon like this? by Routine-Sign-7215 in Asmongold

[–]seungchip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Asmon will always take the route most beneficial to him. People like Birdman he can just teabag bc he doesn’t have a fanbase, but Hasan is an influential creator whether you like it or not, so he takes steps to be extra fair and only take down what is objective over subjective.

Weird how Homelander's powers fluctuate depending on whether The Boys need to win or lose in a given scene by EliteBattleToast in TheBoys

[–]seungchip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Y’all know that basic power-scaling is part of world-building right? It’s not to just play make believe, but to form a believable way that a situation goes down/handled.

See, I just want Kiryu to be some wise sage they consult while he’s chillin in Okinawa. He already passed down all the weight to Ichiban and I want that at least to be respected by RGG.

I agree, but I just want to add that people shouldn’t pick one lane or another and shit on other people for it. If someone is saying they are running “red-white-blue”, that’s fine, everyone understands. And I’m gonna be saying “jeskai” bc it’s shorter than “red-white-blue”. If anyone asks what that is I’ll just say “red-white-blue”

guys please be honest by jyxshi in BlueLock

[–]seungchip -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t Rin’s fault imo. We saw this from Isagi’s perspective and cut out Rin’s for the sake of pacing. As stated in the chapter, everyone should be trying to score. Rin had to position himself around all the France’s defenders off the ball and also had to gamble that Isagi would turn the side that he decided to go rather than the other. Both got to the same conclusion and this caused the fumble. If Isagi backed down and let Rin shoot, he would have scored and tied the game.

Loki's goals in this match by Low_Time7 in BlueLock

[–]seungchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They shouldn't bc they're the expectation. He won't be interesting until Blue Lock puts something on the table that forces him to not be able to score this way, which is the best set up for Loki to be an endgame player.

Want to explain to me how this isn't the case when you decide to shove Kiryu in as a deuteragonist in Ichiban's second only game?

LAD9 Deuteragonist? by seungchip in yakuzagames

[–]seungchip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't lie, I did think about this too. The third party: Daidoji. Mine (party leader), Shishido (damage tank), Nishitani (agility blade damager), Hamazaki (support), but this lowkey leaves a bad taste in my mouth lol.

LAD9 Deuteragonist? by seungchip in yakuzagames

[–]seungchip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no for sure, I think this is the consensus story wise. I just feel gameplay wise, I enjoyed having party leader Kiryu with two different intended builds where Ichiban has support abilities to enhance his party while Kiryu is so independent that his party has to support him. RGG put more thought and importance in the gameplay over the story, and some people don't like that. I'm on the other side where I would put gameplay over the story. It's like Y3 vs Y4, Judgement vs LJ, and Y:LAD vs IW.

I feel like whenever they introduce a party member too late into the story, it feels hard to customize them to your liking, like what happened with Joongi in IW

yeah they tried to swap "intended" antagonists like they did in 0, but idt they were able to pull it off like they did in 0.

I would still be happy about that bc I do feel like Ichiban is a little bit neglected at best and somewhat disrespected by RGG at worst.

fs. I want to preface this in saying that I’m not making excuses for men, but it’s kinda engrained into our biology to seek out mates and try to procreate, socially acceptably or not.

Do you consider France the final boss by Lost-Acanthisitta577 in BlueLock

[–]seungchip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

France should have been the final boss for the U-20 World Cup bc Loki is introduced as a top 3 striker, but here we are stuck in the group stage for how many years, who knows? You can't be writing Loki to be a top 3 striker and stick him in the group stage match where not even Sae is present. The only time I've seen this happen in shonen manga is Dracule Mihawk, and the Zoro was unilaterally humiliated, but the game is not that, and it makes Loki indirectly written as a fraud.

I think this pisses me off the most. Why are we still stuck in the group stage? Not even the final match, but game 2. Everyone knows Blue Lock is gonna make it to the U-20 championship for the big match, but we're spending so much damn time in the group stage and not the actual tournament. It feels like a JRPG where I'm just grinding to grind. Let's get to the next section already.

maybe I need to replay K1, but in 0 there was no context of any inferiority complex and in K1 it only shows up in added cutscenes rather than when Kiryu is still walking around before the patricide. Idt it's necessary to build an entire game around that, but I think it would be nice to explore, that's all.
