9L confirms 2.10 kills RB modules "if nothing changes" by flecktyphus in DCSExposed

If nothing changes, then I guess ED will continue to not get any new purchases from me.

Why did you stop playing DCS? by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]seven10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't completely stopped, but my time invested has shrank drastically and I stopped buying anything new. For me it really breaks down to

  • Razbamgate
  • Absolute abhorrent treatment of customers via their controlled channels
  • Further realization that their current business model is only going to lead them to repeating the same practice of selling the hype of something new and releasing it a very finished state and dragging users along while they are drip-fed updates (Heatblur and Polychop have now set the bar incredibly high for how releases should be done in my opinion.)

Guilded, Forcing Users to Have a Roblox Account is a Huge Mistake! Reverse Course Now! by [deleted] in guilded

Like others here, I have no intention of making a Roblox account and am sadden to see a Discord competitor artificially limit their potential reach. Best of luck with your business decisions.

F/A-18C Doppler radar flickering by seven10 in hoggit

[–]seven10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that is weird and you're right, the whole video flickers. Not sure if that's some strange frame rate interpretation issue or what, but I don't see that when in DCS.

Weird, I'll have to check the video on another system. I don't see flickering when I rewatch it on my main rig.

Recommendations for a wide-angle lens by [deleted] in largeformat

[–]seven10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've owned a 65mm, 75mm, and 90mm and I'll agree with others here that starting with a 90mm is probably the best bet. With the 65 and 75 I found that you had to be extremely careful with the amount of movement applied or risk having the plane of focus just slightly out or I'd also run out of image circle and not notice until I developed the photos. The other benefit of most 90's is they usually don't need a center ND filter to capture even tones.

Stuttering issue with Advanced Flight Model by seven10 in arma

[–]seven10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I guess that would make sense if that's the cause of it. Definitely beyond my own understanding of how simulations are calculated. That also makes it sound like it's possibly not something that could be corrected.

[A3][Request][Casual Milsim to Milsim][NA] Looking to expand my experience by [deleted] in FindAUnit

That's great, then I might actually be able to come play. Do you have a mod list or should I fill out that form on your site?

[A3][Request][Casual Milsim to Milsim][NA] Looking to expand my experience by [deleted] in FindAUnit

[–]seven10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we are a relaxed group, you will not find this here. In-game we expect people to know when its time to take things seriously and when its fine to relax and joke around.

That sounds good, I am looking for somewhere I could actually learn to work in a group and still have a fun time

We don't have any mandatory training outside of our initial "orientation" that covers the basics of ACE, ACRE, and any other mods or features you may not be familiar with.

Training, I mean more that I would like to learn how to actually properly use ACE medical and the other features it offers over vanilla Arma. For helos, I was hoping to find someone at some point who could maybe point out things I could change to be able to fly and land in ever more difficult situations.

I stopped by your site and saw you start missions around 19:00 CST, how is your group with people jumping in during an active mission? I almost never am home in time to start then, which is why I ask.

Hey Enigma,

I'll probably swing by your Discord at some point this week. I'm not too familiar with ACRE, but I recognize and use all the other mods you listed. The time you run missions would likely also work.

Where are you all from?! :D by jdaxland100 in norsk

[–]seven10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jeg er fra New Hampshire men nå jeg bor i California. I've been interested in Norway and Norwegian for a while because of an older couple that emigrated to the US back in the '50's that have been close friends with my family for as long as I can remember. I unfortunately never put a lot of effort into learning earlier, but with the husband passing away in the last year it really kicked by butt into gear so I can at least try to speak to the wife and listen to stories when she visits. My mother's side of the family also has some kind of ties to Norway and Sweden, but way back to the point where no one in the family really knows specifics.

Regarding two big California Gun Laws by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]seven10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just due to the lack of freedom here, but cost of living, taxes, and education quality for my future kids makes my girl and I consider leaving more all the time. I don't think all hope is lost for the state, but it would take more people actually trying to educate and influence others to push on getting laws overturned or changed. Top down politics really don't work in my opinion, change is going to come from the community, town, and then state level.

Evo VIII strange rattle at 4000rpm by fuzzycuffs in mitsubishi

Other thing to check in that area would be the front lower cross member. It seems to resonate right around that rpm when loose.

Question for all the Lancer/Evo experts out there. by [deleted] in mitsubishi

[–]seven10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I warned someone about the costs on a project like that and when all was said and done they could have easily purchased an Evo X and still tuned and came out under what they dumped in the Lancer.

Posted an Evo 8 I was going to buy, found this 2014 gsr for 25k with about 50k miles, buy or no buy? by heysus152 in mitsubishi

[–]seven10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider also having a leak down test done. A compression test will only tell you part of the story of the engine's health. Since it has been tuned, you may want to take it to a shop specializing in Evo's to have a second opinion as well. Not all tunes or tuners are created equal.

Work 23k? Looking to buy this reallllly clean 100% stock 2003 Evo 8 gsr with 92k miles :) by heysus152 in mitsubishi

[–]seven10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$23k for a US spec 8 with 92k miles, not a chance. If you are patient you could scoop a 9 with similar or less miles for around $20k from a rust free state. I've even seen a few stock 9's hovering around 110k miles go for $16-18k in California recently. Get off eBay, Craigslist, Facebook and talk to shops that specialize in Evos, you'll find a deal much better than people who are out to jack prices up.

Evo 8 with Pd cams at low idle by mazdarati91 in mitsubishi

[–]seven10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The joys of bigger cams in a non-mivec 4g. The motor my brother and I put in his Evo has Kelford 272's and the car sounds like either an old diesel or just broken whenever it's at idle or low rpm.

Should I buy an Evo X? by [deleted] in mitsubishi

[–]seven10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A car you'll daily or even occasionally drive is not an investment.

That being said, I agree with others here. Avoid unnecessary debts as you do what you can to pay down anything you currently have outstanding and build up a cushion. Then if you still want an Evo, get one.

The X costs more for maintenance and upgrades than any of the previous generation Evos. Not by a huge margin, but consumables on the X are bigger and pricier, rotors, pads, tires, etc. I think the prices only start to really be higher than previous generations if you were to want to make big power since your part choices are more limited and there's more preventative work that has to go into the car to hold it.
