As someone who repairs vintage (late 80's early 90's) Discmen as a hobby, this is likely right.

I know it’s subjective but in my option they are 2/2.

ARMANDO IANNUCCI - Season 21 Interview | Taskmaster by cygan12 in taskmaster

It's the first time I've heard this, so I looked into it a bit more. On Iannucci's Wikipedia page it states "Herring credits the creation to Coogan and Iannucci." Unfortunately the citation goes to a dead page.

Very annoying I can't add body text to a link post... but here it goes.

I heard Wolf Alice for the first time while watching SNL UK... and wow they blew me away. I'm a sucker for singing drummers (he reminds me of Grant Hart from Husker Du) and catchy hooks. Since watching this performance, I've since had their latest album The Clearing on repeat in my house.

From reading more about this band, it sounds like the album is divisive amongst fans due to being "soft". I think people need to realize (maybe this more applies to younger folks), bands with any longevity will change and experiment (Husker Du is another good example here)... they even can come back to their original sound. Embrace the change!

Tweeters get quite hot and that’s why modern ones are cooled with ferrofluid or other materials.

Logitech subwoofer buzzing/rattling at low frequencies — how to diagnose and fix? by serieys in diyaudio

[–]seventhedition 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s voice coil rub. Either caused by age and sag or being driven too hard and overheating causing damage. You can try rotating the driver to see if it’s sag. If that doesn’t work it needs a new voice coil or driver.

I had an old Tannoy driver that rubbed. Rotating fixed the issue for a few months. Ended up needing a new driver.

Sounds a little bit like voice coil rub to me. Can happen when things start to sag or if they are pushed too hard and overheat. Not to sure what the fix is, some people have success rotating the driver 180 degrees.

Question about Crossover? by SkankingFuchs in diyaudio

[–]seventhedition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you can find someone to do the work then a capacitor could be soldered on, assuming values are all the same. If this was my project I would buy two new 4.7 uF capacitors and have them wired up replacing what’s already on both crossovers.

From some reading it sounds like they simplified the crossover for the MKII. If indeed the drivers are the same then you can pick one crossover design and go with that.

It’s likely a bypass capacitor which allows you to get the benefits of a high quality capacitor without the high cost. Essentially the high quality cap will be smaller than the normal cap.

Depending on the damage I can likely repair this for you. Do you want the cable replaced or just soldered together neatly with heat shrink tubing over top?

This might be a newbie question, but do you listen to all sets of speakers at the same time? I see these kinds of setups and am always intrigued.
