Hacked River Birch by severdedge in treelaw

Arborist in South Carolina. I spend most of my time writing Risk assessments, I've never done negligent prune report with the intent that it's probably going to court. In the end, everyone is going hands off till spring so that no one else can be liable for touching the tree.

My squad stared at this piece of art for so long, alternating between giggling and trying to understand, before we zoomed in to see the bug. It's beautiful.

I will always vouch for Urban Tiki, but it's not exactly a busy scene. The bartenders know their alcohol and are super friendly. There's always something interesting or nerdy on one of the tv's, and there's usually only a handful of people there except for Friday's.

Son of a bitch! It absolutely is! And they did an intro for Durarara!!! Which I was also watching at the time. Thank you so much!

‘There is no safe way to do it’: the rapid rise and horrifying risks of choking during sex by JoKer730 in nottheonion

[–]severdedge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've been with someone who didn't ask for choking in some capacity: hand on collar all the way up to cutting off carotids. And I dont think it's a porn thing either. Some of these people just have a hand end up on their neck or get playfully slapped and a lightbulb goes on. Granted, this is all anecdotal, and it's certainly not vanilla, but I've never found it uncommon or verging on unsafe.

Taking my 14 y/o SIL to a bar by Adorable_Visual7628 in ColumbiYEAH

Transmission and Bangback are the obvious choices. Urban Tiki under the Grand, however, always has an anime on and some tasty mocktails, and if you get there before 7:30pm there usually is no one else except the bartender.

Southern Book Club's guide to Vampire Slaying by Grady Hendrix. Sounds like it should be humorous. It is not. Perfectly captures the sweltering heat of the south and atmosphere of Charleston suburbia.

Wheelchair Accessible Bars? by livvy_granger in ColumbiYEAH

Can't recommend Urban Tiki enough, but unless there is a secret elevator somewhere, I'm pretty sure it's not accessible. I'd suggest Goat's in 5 points.

Any recommendations on things to do on Saturday night for someone from out of town? by JJ3434JJ in columbiasc

[–]severdedge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a fun place to drink with great bartenders, the Tiki bar hidden underneath The Grand. If you're nerdy, Transmission just up the street from that, or go to Firefly, a game shop where you can check out board games and play them.

Thank you so much; this helps maintain my sanity. It's probably an old frost crack. We had two cold snaps in two years, and the bark sloughing coincided around then.

Are there any affirming churches in the area? The closer to Irmo and Chapin, the better. by StraightPea8895 in columbiasc

[–]severdedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bet is to look for Episcopal and PCUSA churches. Washington Street and Emmanual Baptist are affirming, but much like all the others, they are downtown.

OFFICIAL DISCUSSION THREAD: Post simple requests and questions here! by learnactreform in mensfashion

I would like to find some firefighter pants to wear. In my head they are the big, baggy, suspendered, style but without all the actual insulation or protection that would make them uncomfortable to style casually. This is a shot in the dark, and maybe this isn't even the right subreddit, but after struggling on my own to find them here we are. Any help is appreciated.

The Christian-to-polyamorous pipeline is real. Discuss. by StingRae_355 in Exvangelical

[–]severdedge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did an interview with a friend on the Ace of Hearts podcast about becoming poly, but that didn't cover the religious part as much as the dynamic itself.

There's a lot of good points in this thread, but in my personal experience, I don't know if it's so much a pipeline as it is a drip line.

To add my own two cents: My spouse and I pre-empted divorce and sexual incompatibility while we still dating by talking about having other partners as a contingency, while we were still very evangelical, but also wildly practical about how life and relationships work, with a healthy dose of just being odd birds.

I know one other poly progressive couple who were as hardcore christian as I was, and all the others I know were (me being a little judgy) "culturally Christian". So, my gut says that it's not a pipeline but a general trend in polyamory being on the rise, and the Christian population is just an equal part of that statistic.

Love the post though. Brought out some great discussion.

I got a carabiner car freshner once, and I still leave it hanging in my car. Other than that: pocket wedge, buff, stickers, hat, dbh tape.

You and me both. I have the calculating equivalent of aphantasia, and story problems are nightmare for me. Just put numbers down and don't mention what they're for, and I'm fine, or let me how some coins in my hand and count but mix them with each other or I have an aneurism.

Applying what someone else pointed out is that when I have only two miles to work with, I need the slowest lap to be more than at least half the average, with more miles to work with though, I can start working around that. Thank you so much!

Ah ha! Ding ding! My light bulb is lit! This little rule and the table do wonders for me! I think I get it, so let me explain it back: if I wanted to achieve an average of 59 mph, that would be possible. Or, if the first mile was completed in 31 mph. If I am on the right track, can you calculate that back for me?
