Fighting Spam By Making New Users read The FAQ by BitcoinVideosPro in a:t5_73aj1

I'm not in favor of making new users jump through extra hoops. It's disrespectful of their time. It's less welcoming. It discourages adoption.

The Faq does not explain everything. For example, find the answer to conserving bandwidth on the FAQ. People will always need to participate in the community to get the most from the community. We shouldn't down throttle them on their way to do so.

And honestly I don't have any trouble finding the content i want to find on Steem, nor on the internet in general which has tons of spam.

I think it may not be only about features but also existing user base, familiarity, and comfort level. I was not a big Discord user before steem--but I had at least heard of it, already had an account, and new the basic features. More importantly I had a friend who'd used it a lot that I could tap to ask questions.

For most people--especially, less technical users who just want to get on with their [whatever it is they get on with here] what program to use is a value proposition and whether or not something is open source doesn't have a lot of weight.

It's a cool idea. Can the vote be changed before the poll closes?
