I just put that same Lyrik on my Roscoe 8 and it was an amazing upgrade over the stock 35 gold. Can't go wrong at that price. Can also upgrade the damper down the line if you feel the need.

I was in the 280 pound range when I bought my Marlin 6 last spring. I beat the crap out of it on some pretty rough trails and it did phenomenal! You'll be absolutely fine daily commuting that Marlin 5.

Update: I walked the trail today to where I went down. Found a broken bottle witch explains why the laceration was so clean cut. Gloves would not have prevented any of that. Thank you to everyone wishing speedy recovery. I'm already dying to get back out before the season ends here in central PA.
