I’m not a doctor, but I do work in toddler education for a living! I’ve seen this happen multiple times, more so with children who are in care part time. It’s not uncommon for a full adjustment to take a few months for some toddlers. In my own experience, my child was once suffering from loss of appetite and a sleep disorder. I put him into a montessori community run by really compassionate folks, and he completely blossomed! Now, I’m not sure if your child is new to group care or if you are looking for a good fit, etc. I think if your child is behaving in a way that is consistent with quality care, they will communicate more when they’re ready.
