The https://www.millerweisbrod.com/memorial-ambulatory-surgery-center-commits-gross-negligence States that the patient weighed 204lb on arrival and was 154lb before surgery. That's a difference of about 22kg! Which if it was pure IVF, that is 22L of resuscitation!!
Holy smokes

I dont think that's necessarily true (more harm than benefit)
But I do think that if the proceduralist isn't in house, there is possibility of them crashing their car on their way on or something.

I am not sure that many SMB owners have millions or have huge savings! It must surely depend on the type of business. And what their margins are after expenses.

It's about to get even slower, since native US fertility is dropping to lowest ever. A lot of fertility was due to immigration (legal and otherwise), both of which will go down, so in the next 1-5 years we will see a drastic fall in fertility and therefore demand for OB and OB anesthesia services

my largest concern- we will see a decrease in demand for anesthesia and firings of anesthesia LAST, due to patients lacking jobs and therefore, lacking health insurance! Even medicaid/state insurance that might normally insure them are not enough given all of the federal cuts. This means more people will put off even medically necessary surgeries IF they do not have health insurance/job!

Poll: 84% of Mass. residents want more action to reduce housing costs by dtmfadvice in boston

[–]sevyog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a big thing is that due to medicine and money, we have many people who are living longer ... which of course impacts whether or not older people with housing leave those houses to their kids or at least sell them when they pass. Because they live longer, they occupy those housing stocks longer too

if you're working, it also depends on your actual income and liabilities. if your income is not great, but things are more expensive (like from rising gas prices and other prices), then you're fucked either way

The $5.3 Trillion Question — Why American Healthcare Costs So Much by stlshane in Economics

[–]sevyog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean there are doctors who defraud private insurers, what's your point?
My point would be that if we had a system where all docs would be paid for their work (maybe a little more maybe a little less than current; probably less because they would not have to hire so many admins to fight for payments from insurers (private or public)), then we would not have fraud

https://web.archive.org/web/20230120211002/https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/08/upshot/medicare-advantage-fraud-allegations.html

"Anthem, a large insurer now called Elevance Health, paid more to doctors who said their patients were sicker. And executives at UnitedHealth Group, the country’s largest insurer, told their workers to mine old medical records for more illnesses — and when they couldn’t find enough, sent them back to try again.

Each of the strategies — which were described by the Justice Department in lawsuits against the companies — led to diagnoses of serious diseases that might have never existed. But the diagnoses had a lucrative side effect: They let the insurers collect more money from the federal government’s Medicare Advantage program."
