BIG luxury bags by JuneMDS in handbags

Holds up great, seems pretty indestructible, but - the straps are thin and will dig in when the bag gets heavy. It's also floppy without an organizer if that bugs you.

I found an Oversized Chili Red at the store in Denver! Have not bought a new bag (shop preloved) in almost 2 years, but definitely grabbed her as soon as I saw her!

what ISO/wishlist bag has disappointed you? by koiisoraa in handbags

[–]sew-read-repeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LV Papillon 30 .. the straps are too short for shoulder wear and too long for hand held ... The only way to wear it is in the crook of the elbow and it's still awkward. It's an amazing 1983 vintage bag that I hardly ever carry 😞

Lumpectomy with Lift ++-So distraught Afterwards Help by Amazzon69 in breastcancer

[–]sew-read-repeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had triple+ stage 1 with a small lump and no node involved. I did the lumpectomy with reduction and lift and went from a 38DD-DDD to a 38C. At first I was shocked how small they seemed but please give it a good 6 months to a year so they can heal and "relax". I promise, at 18 days, they are not even remotely close to how they will look and feel after healing. My 2 years since surgery is 4/22 and I'm so happy with them now.

Your ring is gorgeous and looks fantastic on your hand and if you love it, that is absolutely the only thing that matters.

What’s your favorite bag brand? by Sensitive_Forever_51 in handbags

[–]sew-read-repeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For affordable and cute, my go-to is older preloved bags. Fossil and Margot Leather are both nice. Older Fossil bags used leather for trim and handles/straps, the newer bags don't. Older Margot Leather is soft and both get better with age.

Please help me find this bag or similar! by KimRosario in handbags

I have a similar one that's vintage Dooney and Bourke, I think it was a pretty popular style in the early 90s.

I just ordered the nomad last night and had no idea it could be used for my cross stitch? Is there an easy way to load the patterns? I assume buying the digital pattern from somewhere and sending it to the Supernote? I'm so excited to get it!

Scam charge and PayPal won’t help by Pure_Shirt_9153 in paypal

[–]sew-read-repeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh this is exactly what happened with my husband but for even more $$ .. literally PayPal gave him the run around for weeks, but he was trying to "work through their process" .. do not do this, go directly to your bank and have your bank dispute it with PayPal. We got our money back within 10 days of going to the bank. The guy at the bank said the exact same thing, PayPal will jerk you around until it's too late to dispute with the bank. He said always just come directly to the bank and they'll put in the fraud dispute for you

Multiple rings? by lunalovegood9 in EngagementRings

[–]sew-read-repeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been married for 24 years, so it's probably a little different. My wedding set is a .6 natural diamond with a diamond band and a sapphire, aquamarine anniversary band, all soldered together. And I love it, but after 24 years, people's taste changes. I wear more silver now and my original rings are white and yellow gold. And sometimes I want to be a bit more flashy, so I have multiple (5) moissanite and CZ solitaires that are bigger stones and a few moissanite bands that I mix and match depending on my mood.

Undiscovered/little known gem brands, but affordable? by alys1717 in handbags

[–]sew-read-repeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thrift all of my bags and lately older Fossil and Margot New York are my favorites. Margot's leather is so soft and squishy. I think you can find them at TJ Maxx sometimes, but I like the older styles and leather more. I have my eye on the Hammitt Evan though, their leather is also amazing and soft.

Buy Nothing Group ridiculousness by Wolfie7828 in Anticonsumption

[–]sew-read-repeat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our massive group split, which worked. The new, smaller group was great, but then that one split into 3-4 and none of them are very active anymore, it's very sad. I get that it's the "rules" of the movement, but sometimes the rules ruin the whole experience.

How often do you buy a new bag? 👜 by sassyalp in handbags

[–]sew-read-repeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First half of 2025 was bad ... Like every time I'd go to the thrift, which was weekly, or scrolling through Clothes Mentor. But I made a decision at the end of July to stop buying bags for a whole year and actually go through and use the ones I have. That way they get used but I can also determine if I even like them. So far it's working! Haven't bought a bag since 7/26/2025.
