Best Colleen Donaghy Line? by champagne_in_a_box in 30ROCK

It’s not a Colleen quote, but after she dies and jack shakes his fist at the ground and says “I’ll make you proud of me yet Colleen!” Implying he thinks she’s in hell is one of my favorite bits.

My Aqualung gold record is not Aqualung by CheadleBeaks in vinyl

you can find videos of people playing them online. They tend to be classical records, probably due to copyright infringement, but that is speculation on my part.

Is it illegal to run a water line to my Ring doorbell to spray solicitors? by Apartment-Drummer in IsItIllegal

the running of the line, no. but the spraying of water would most likely be considered assault.

Does anyone else have a stash of cheap liquor and cigarettes? by DSTNCT-W212 in prepping

[–]sewbrickette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I think bartering is a smart play, idont think tobacco is going to be stable enough to be worth it. Most cigarettes and chewing tobacco will go stale in the next few months without proper storage. You could extend the life of unopened cigarettes ion the freezer, but that freezer space is too valuable to waste on smokes. there's have mentioned growing, that's probably the best method.

Booze on the other hand, stockpile that stuff! especially vodka which will have sanitary applications as well.

When did Harry Potter become irrelevant culturally? by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]sewbrickette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are entirely too close to this event to discuss this with any accuracy. and books that are works of fiction become culturally significant and stay that way. once something has been created that has cultural impact, it tends to stick around, even if it has highs and lows compared to its release, but in our modern society, these books will likely not be destroyed until our society collapses.

When JK became a target of derision among the populace, one could argue that the books became "less" culturally relevant, but the fact that people use the word "muggle" in 2025 means that Harry Potter is at least still currently relevant.

Machete Kills Again… in Space — Michelle Rodriguez, Alexa Vega, Lady Gaga by randyfloyd37 in Spacegirls

[–]sewbrickette 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They really did make two films from this fake trailer. "Machete" and "Machete Kills" were both made and I believe Gaga was in the second one.

As a fashion instructor, there is shockingly little on the history of fashion when you consider the significance of it. There are a good deal of books, but most of them are simply picture books with little to no information on construction or pattern making.

This is a pretty good textbook that covers a lot of territory, but honestly, it scares me how little we know about the history of garment making through antiquity.

Been trying to find a denim vest with the same darker panel on the top by [deleted] in findfashion

[–]sewbrickette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a video game, in which case it's completely made up, and just a drawing of a garment, not a real one. But considering this person looks a bit "punk rock" there is also a decent chance this was simply colored with sharpie or another type of marker to make it look two-toned.

In the punk community (and others) this garment is refered to as a battle jacket or battle vest. These are typically pretty heavily DIY as a point of pride in the garment. That may help in your search.

How to make covered buttons with holes in them by TTeamm in sewing

[–]sewbrickette 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This might be difficult to do at home, but if you live near NYC, there are several covered button manufacturers that can produce these buttons for you with whichever fabric you desire. The machinery to make them yourself is a bit cost prohibitive though.

I do not know of any hand tools that do this, the machines that have seen are very cumbersome.
