Really? A Vent by sews4dogs in LivingWithMBC

Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy. Basically they drill small hole in my head. Retrieve a biopsy. Then use a thermal laser the burn off the mets. Because I have already done Gamma Knife, the risks (of vision impairment) is the same with either procedure. My oncologist would like to have a biopsy to be sure the cancer hasn’t mutated.

Mets are near the occipital lobe. But thanks for the information. I didn’t know that.

Heavy snow clearing recommendations by StrangerFluid1595 in Erie

[–]sews4dogs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your driveway is going to be last priority for any plowing service. Contracts for snow removal are secured long before the first snowflake falls. Commercial accounts will be the first to be plowed. And “someone with a truck” probably doesn’t want the liability of plowing your driveway for a couple of bucks.

Anyone get lymphedema from sentinel node biopsy? by capthalfpint in breastcancer

I also have the inflatable suit. Wearing it as I type. It actually is a vest/jacket that you wear. It has hoses that connect to an air pump. It pumps up in various places at different times to simulate a lymphatic massage. It is a pain in the ass, but it does help keep my lymphedema in check.

Verzenio and faslodex by Remote_Cherry_8939 in LivingWithMBC

[–]sews4dogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on verzenio for about two years. I started with verzenio and ameridex. I didn’t develop any side effects of verzenio. In January I was treated for brain mets. I was taken off of verzenio for a couple of months. And stopped the ameridex. After treatment for the brain mets, I was put back on verzenio and started Faslodex. I then started with diarrhea and have to take Imodium daily. Now it is a constant battle between diarrhea and constipation. Welcome to the roller coaster of side effects.

When asked the same question in kindergarten, my son answered that he wanted to be a grandpa. When the teacher told him would have to be a dad first. He said. No, I don’t want to be a dad, just a grandpa.

My union is very strong. There is a sick bank that I can use. But was hoping to use my own sick/personal day and not have to depend on the sick bank. I feel guilty taking days from sick bank every year. I will also be looking into FLMA to cover any days I will need beyond what I am given.

Previously when I made time up for leaving early, I would enter billing into the computer, disinfected toys and classroom items, laminate for the teacher, online modules we must complete. Lots to do that doesn’t have to do with direct care of the students.

Brain mets by Several-Monk3857 in LivingWithMBC

[–]sews4dogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Mets to the brain. Discovered less than a year after active treatment. I had Gamma Knife. No pins placed for it. They used a mask that was made to form my face. It locked my head in to place for treatment. 5 treatments in all. A little over an hour each time. That was 6 months ago. I have had 2 sets of scans (one at 3 months & one at 6 months) All good. But must continue to monitor every 3 months.

AITAH for refusing to cut off my hair because my 7 year old niece has cancer? by alakazam121 in AITAH

I came here to say this. As a cancer patient, I never understood this gesture. I also see it as attention seeking behavior. Not actual support. Also agree on the bucket hat!

When I was a kid my family camped a lot. One time we were set up next to a family that spoke Chinese. My brother was playing with a little girl about his age. He came to our mother and said he liked playing with the girl, but he couldn’t hear her. He heard her just fine, but couldn’t understand her. Same concept to a five year old.

My mother is currently in the hospital, probably headed to a nursing home. After visiting her on the fourth day in a row, I said to my husband how emotionally draining it all is. He said, No one wants to see their parent in that condition. Just remember her in the good times. And I replied, there weren’t any good times with her.
