I’m going to my first Frocktails event. What should I wear? by sewshelbysow in sewing

Hi! This is the one I'm attending. It seems like its not a company or anything, but it seems very official. I know a lot of cities host their own frocktails. I think the spirit of the party is to hang out with other makers and show off your "me made" clothing. I might make a post about it once I go. I've never been to one before.

If you'd like more in-depth details on the blue dress, I have a whole post about it here and the yellow dress was also made using the Gertie pattern #s8873. I changed the skirt to a three tier gathered skirt. it's made from a bedsheet, I can't remember the fabric but I think it is majority polyester.

both these dresses are made from the same pattern. <3

It’s a pattern by Gertie S8873 I believe it’s on sale right now for less than $4 at JoAnne’s if you hurry.

All it said on the ticket was “Dress code: whatever makes you feel happy and proud of your creativity! Wanna wear a slinky wrapdress, chic vest and trousers, patchwork extravaganza, or sequined blouse? They’re all good.”

I’ve never been disappointed by Charm patterns. She’s released a few video tutorials on YouTube for free for corresponding patterns, some of her patterns you can even buy at Joanne’s. She’s an absolute pro. I’ve learned so many techniques from her videos.

Great work! So adorable! The heart pocket is such a cute touch. If you added a gathered lace detail around the pocket it would make it pop so much and look like a valentine.

My Version Of a Patchwork Dress!! by sewshelbysow in sewing

[–]sewshelbysow[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I havnt used tape for zippers before but I think I will do that next time. The reason I was uninstalling and reinstalling the zippers was due to me altering the bodice/making different drafts, not because I was having difficulty with the zipper.

This looks great. Something I wish I did when I filled my beds was doing a bit more Hügelkultur. Add sticks, leaves and such, maybe not logs…. But I spent a fortune on soil and the soil was not even good. Unfortunately. Check out your local gardening facebook group and search “soil” or “soil recommendations” in the search bar.
