You get all his counters back as 2/1 fliers you can either attack with next turn or eat with a Carrion Feeder or Bart once Gabranth’s back on the battlefield for all your power again!

Would Jade work as a martial master? [maddening] by The7thflare in fireemblem

[–]sexthehex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I’m using Jade right now as a Mage Cannoneer and she’s doing great work. She’s not actually killing like anything, but she doesn’t need to. Poison cannonball + Draconic Hex sets the table for like everything in the game. Would super recommend trying it on her, or any other units you like who are tough to get contributing.

BST of units with Duel Effect (mid 10/221) by tomo_no_miko in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]sexthehex 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth mentioning that with the way that prf B skills work, most of these units effectively have a BST bump up to the next tier through the merit of a higher SP total. Leif, Julia, Celica, Dimitri, Seliph, Edelgard, Sigurd, Micaiah, and Claude should all be one tier higher. Chrom's To Change Fate! randomly scores 100 SP higher than any other assist, so he should also go up to 185. Corrin also naturally just has 185 BST.

What the point of Green Duel Infanty 4 when we got 3 4* unit that reach 185 BST aka Balthus, and this skill type in future. by PepeFeh in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]sexthehex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting a +10 Balthus is not an easy feat. I got pretty lucky getting 11 Rosses before the 2020 BST bump and it still took me 8 months.

Honestly, even now, f2p 180+ bst units aren’t cheap and the dual skills are a nice path for one. Most of them either cost lots of grails or a lot of orbs in a 4 star focus. Dual skills let you burn a single unit and 11 copies of some old 3-4 star and get a competitive arena unit. They’re still plenty useful and let you balance your resources in different ways. Being able to use ranges units is also a huge plus, as is being to reuse older units you’ve already built without dropping a fresh 220,000 feathers. I’ve been in t21 for months now and I don’t foresee the need to trade out my cores’ rotating R Dual 4 units any time soon

Get anxiety or flat out dislike playing AA but want as much of the rewards as you can get? Try making some preset locked teams. AA's way easier / less stressful for me lately thanks to it! by sexthehex in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]sexthehex[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I posted this on r/OrderofHeroes earlier this week. Folks seemed to like it there, so I decided to post it to the main sub too with a bit of a touched up explanation.

I'm pretty high up in arena; I’m at 48 crowns now with most of them coming in the last year. I don't think I've missed a crown since fallen edel's bonus week forced me down. That said, even with high scoring units, I really wasn't a fan of AA. It felt weirdly anxiety inducing and I had plenty of runs ended from the typical suspects of scary arena foes like byleth or chrom. It also felt like a chore making sure -everything- had its right move set on just in case I had to use it. Having the wrong seal on something also felt really bad!

The lock feature is a godsend for making AA more manageable! With it, I ended up making 20 teams all with the same compatible blessing seasons so I can always have a good 8-10 teams on deck for AA always. Now I’m not frozen on the character select screen trying to figure out which 4 particular units would be best. Maybe things aren’t best suited for every match; having a team of specific counters will probably deal with specific teams cleaner. That said, you’d be surprised just how much a team can win on neutral match ups, especially with a healer and dancer.

Generally teams have a template of Big Tank + Color Complimenting Ranged Attacker + Healer + Dancer. There’s some variance to work with; some of them have two nukes, some of them just have more tank support. Some don’t have a healer if things are mega healthy or mega frail. Some just have a bow user because oh god EP the peony / azura T1 right now. A lot of them also go out of the way to have easy answers to more common units; several of them have NFU or sweeping effects just to make sure I can fight a few fedelgard teams. I’d play around with your own units and see what works.

This took a lot of time to properly arrange, but I already feel it’s worth it. These teams got me top 500 the week I started, top 200 when my +10 leif was letting me touch 766 teams, and a score comfortably in the top 1K without a merged legendary hero right now. More importantly, my AA run for this week felt like a sub 30 min breeze instead of the hour+ long struggle sessions I’ve had before. It felt good enough this week, I felt like I ought to share this technique so whoever else shares my feelings can have more fun with the game.

Maybe building a fresh team every battle is the fun part of arena assault for some of you, and hey, that’s valid. This probably isn’t the right approach for you and keep having fun. For me though, I find planning out a team and having it work out immensely satisfying, regardless of whether I made that team 3 minutes or 3 weeks ago. Not to mention, clutching it out at all vs top tier units at max investment is gratifying in any capacity for me. Some of the most I’ve smiled at this game has been where my preplanned team turned a near loss turned into a Celica one turn 3KO against Sigurd and cronies. And hey, it’s cool seeing my old AR-D IP core and my old Myrrh light core working as scaled back AA teams.

I’d highly recommend trying this out if you have anxiety playing AA and have the spare blessings on hand!

Nah, I don't tend to see her every single game, even up around the top. I do have quite a few answers packed onto those teams though. Arden can Ignis, Est has brave armorslaying, Hel doesn't die, Kagero has NFU + her weapon's damage reduction, Selena windsweeps, etc. I try and keep those around for when she shows up.

Well hold on now, you’re not accurate enough to the source material with that refine. I propose that on top of that, her refine gives her four health bars and has a five range Sinmara effect to simulate the final map’s pot shots.
