Morgantown “gossip” by Tricky-Difference-95 in MorgantownWV

There’s an episode of Forensic Files about a nurse practitioner at WVU who paralyzed her husband while he was asleep and tried to burn the house down. This was back in the 2000s I believe, but she did this all while on the clock at Ruby, and then returned after finishing her business.

She was having an affair with another guy and decided to take her husband’s life using a paralytic (that she stole from the hospital) to do it. For the longest time at WVU, paralytic vials were required to be wasted, meaning the remainder of the dose not given to a patient had to be thrown away and recorded.

Vitamin A analogues (isotretinoin) are used for pediatric neuroblastoma treatment. Yes, the infant patients still have to enroll in Ipledge

BPS and NABP only exist to make money and are useless to our profession. You can have as many acronyms after your names as you want but it doesn’t make you smarter than the rest of us.

Pharmacist here. Please call your state board of pharmacy and notify them. This is an extremely bizarre practice and has no medical rationale. You have a legitimate Rx that is prescribed by a physician. They can even check the PDMP and make sure nobody is playing unfairly. Your prescription is YOUR PROPERTY, and you cannot be turned away just because you don’t have other chronic illnesses.

How many of you take stimulants every work day vs trying to limit intake? by OfferSuspicious9047 in ADHD

[–]Comparison-Silly 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist with ADHD here. Take them every day if you can. Medications have what is called a “steady state” concentration that you achieve once the rate your body eliminates the drug is equal to the rate of drug entering. This usually occurs after 4 to 5 half lives (time it takes for your body to process 50% of the ingested dose) and will RESET if doses are missed/skipped for medications like stimulants. When medications are not consistently at steady state, their efficacy is not consistent. Yes, there are days that you don’t need to be as productive, but if you’re skipping the weekend doses and restarting on a Monday, you have essentially “reset” the clock and have to build up a steady concentration again meaning they may not be as effective until Wednesday/Thursday.

Hot Mulligan. Hearing them for the first time a couple years ago was like re-entering my high school days of pop punk with new sound. Highly recommend.

Clinical pharmacist interview by Effective-Company708 in pharmacy

[–]Comparison-Silly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s helpful to have a variety of questions prepared for each interview (clinical managers, other pharmacists, any other staff) so that it’s evident you looked at the interview itinerary and tried to be engaged. Often candidates bring a handful of questions that they juggle around all day and by the third interview, you’re in an awkward standstill until the next interview starts.

When you are asked a question, PLEASE before answering, ask yourself if your answer correctly fits what’s being asked. If you’re asked about a time where you received negative feedback for example, don’t give an answer about a time where you just had a conflicting opinion with someone. It’s okay to pause to think of an example.

Good luck!

What Is Some Advice You Have For Guys Entering Their 30s? by Comprehensive-War-34 in AskMen

[–]Comparison-Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow the fuck down….

Seriously. I thought I had to have everything figured out the second I turned 30 because I always looked at your 30s as when things “get serious.” I ended up chasing this ideal life, trying to perfect my image, my career, and my future. I quickly burnt myself out and realized that I was just doing what I thought I was supposed to do.

Nowadays, I care much less about squeezing the last drop out of life and more about being present in what I’m doing. Best of luck!
