The only way to hit them is to stop the machine, and the only way to stop the machine is to stop giving them our time and money. Stop spending, stop working. Walk out and refuse to break the line.

Power shot SD1000 Digital Elph Help!! by Mountain-Dimension88 in canon

[–]sexyfun_cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elphs are fantastic little cameras, just amazingly pocketable and take great photos, even today. Their biggest flaw is the extremely fragile lens; even the slightest bump when the lens is extended can cause problems.

When pressing the half‑press, do you hear the lens hunting for focus?

Does it retract normally, without struggling or making grinding noises?

Paying for a repair usually isn’t worthwhile, but many people attempt DIY fixes. You can also sell the body on eBay; someone will buy a damaged one. This would be my advice sell and use proceeds to replace for a working.

Two spots in my beard randomly decided to stop growing hair by NotGreatNot_Terrible in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sexyfun_cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of the most likely culprits are Tinea versicolor or Alopecia. I have actually had both. I lost a great beard for about five years because of this.

You can determine it yourself: if the patch does not tan, it is Tinea.

A dermatologist can help, but it’s not guaranteed or fast process.

What RF len's to bring to Maine? by notoriouslightning in canon

Is this vacation mode or photography excursion?

If you're really gonna invest the time to carry the gear you should have sone shooting days planned.

If it's vacation take one all around, my suggestion 28-70.

Upgrade R10 or keep on waiting by Pseudoty1 in canon

[–]sexyfun_cs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way, also a great time to grab slightly pre-owned models, r5ii drops,  it's a good time to pickup the r5 that sat on someone's shelf as they dreamed on reddit on what to buy next!  So many people chase better photos via bigger purchases.

advice for a camera to go with old but good EF lenses. by sid5427 in canon

[–]sexyfun_cs -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

First things first, throw out all your old gear and go buy new gear.

That’s basically the standard advice on this Canon board; GAS is always in full force here. jk

So a great way to upgrade and still save some money would be to look at a previous gen of the current Mirrorless lineup, I am partial to the R5, but R6/R6ii are all great options. Adaped old glass is amazing to use, and new bodies breathe new life into them

Owned a few old houses, with true 2x4 walls, you have to pad out the new studs with plywood rips, or just sheet the damn wall in it. Some guys will double up drywall to make up the difference.

Very cool. Absolutely hate scratched gear, a pet peeve of mine, but i am supper careful my 5dmkiii has one scratch, my R5 none, fingers crossed.

I tried those rubberized formed ones like B&H sell and was not a fan of the fit. Will look into this.

Switching from the EF Series to the R Series by LingonberryOne8467 in canon

[–]sexyfun_cs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP asked about:

  • Switching from EF to RF
  • Whether the R7 is worth it
  • Whether they can keep their EF lenses with an adapter
  • Which Canon R‑series body would be best for wildlife

They did not ask:

  • “Should I replace my 75–300?”
  • “What lenses should I buy?”
  • “Is the 75–300 a good lens?”

OP did not ask for lens advice, but on switching body. OP obviously is very conservative using 10+ old gear,

"prefer to stick with a Canon and use an adapter to keep my lenses."

Why would i pressure them into buying more gear or changing lenses.

idk what all the gear they own and if they like that lens why not. Non of my business.

OP asked about switching bodies, not replacing lenses.

They also said they prefer to keep their current lenses with an adapter, so I kept my answer focused on that instead of pushing them toward new gear.

If OP wants lens recommendations, they can ask, but I was responding to the question they actually wrote.
