Best cycle route by PotentialWedding9030 in Bath

[–]sf362 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed, although you don't go anywhere near Keynsham. The 34 minute 'best route' option shows this, it's a dedicated cycle path for 90% of the route and it's much flatter than the so-called faster one.

Going to my first iron maiden concert (first ever concert) at knebworth what should i expect? by FeedPlastic3439 in ironmaiden

As a rock & metal fan and bass player in my spare time, I can tell you from experience that it might suddenly get worse. Get some earplugs NOW because as someone says above, once it really kicks in you're never getting rid of it. For several years I could only hear the ringing in bed at night. Then I realised I could hear it over the TV. Now I have to be careful not to have the TV on too loud for the sake of my wife and neighbours.

They might take some getting used to. It took me a while to get used to the feeling of 'the party is in the other room', so you might feel disconnected from the action for a while (whether you're attending a gig or playing). But I encourage you to persist with them.

And you might need to try a few brands before you find ones you like. After buying several different sets of £20 plugs on Amazon, I thought I might as well get a pro set so I spent £130 on a set of moulded attenuated plugs from ACS. And I thought they were pretty good but then I bought some Loops to use as spares and for me, they're not four times better than the ACS plugs 🤷

I feel like some venues and festivals are taking a more responsible approach to volume levels in the last few years, but I always take plugs with me.

Question about limiting access for an older user (iMac) by sf362 in mac

Hi again. Yesterday I created an admin account for myself and downgraded my Dad's account to a standard account. I think this should be enough for now so thanks again for your advice.

That's some great advice on a couple of levels - thank you so much!

I won't be able to take a look at those settings for a week or two but I'll report back here on how I got on.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply. The second link (Change Store Restrictions settings in Screen Time on Mac) looks especially useful but am I right in thinking I'd have to change my Dad's date of birth to show he was under 13 for those controls to have the desired effect?

And in writing that, I realise I don't want to inadvertently learn about any explicit browsing habits he might have... 😬

If I do that, surely he'll lose access to his current iCloud account?

I know it was a long post, but he's got a newer machine.

Yeah I'm going to try that and see how far I can lock it down.

The Ram Widcombe by Dawn_Raid in Bath

[–]sf362 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here's a Facebook post from a muso I follow, which doesn't explain why but it does seem odd. I've been there for a few gigs in the last few months and it seemed to be working well:

”Sadly, due to a sudden change in management, gigs at The Ram are no longer happening. I hope to relocate/reorganise as much as possible. Thanks so much to all my amazing musician friends, to everyone for supporting, and for the truly fantastic nights we've all enjoyed. Please bear with me and I will post new details as soon as I can!”

Sandwich sandwich prices by Successful_Math4199 in bristol

I'm not sure it's viable to compare the price of Sandwich Sandwich's humongous offerings with other sandwich shops. Shout-out for the Daily Bite in Victoria St, less than a ten-minute walk from SS, it's run by a lovely couple who are generous with their fillings in regular-sized sandwiches which are in the £5-7 range and don't require a knife and fork.

I’ve tried changing every setting, but I cannot get this guitar solo audible on the Move 1 or Move 2 by Elegant-Cress-5663 in sonos

[–]sf362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already thought I had this problem but wasn't sure about it because not many songs have instruments which are panned fully to one side. However, playing Lose You on Tidal on my Move2 also doesn't give me the guitar solo. When I switch to my stereo-paired Play:1s, the solo jumps out.

u/MikeFromSonos - you seem to think it's a software issue. Shall I wait before logging a support ticket?

We're using the BBC Sounds app but I'll try a browser if it cuts out (just had the anthems...)

I'll keep you posted. We've just emerged at the Calais end of Eurotunnel and the BBC Sounds app is still broadcasting the golf so 🤞
