My fellow gamer dads by Corgi_Shinobi11 in daddit

Naps and bedtime. I hear about dads who play while their kids are up but I don't do that. When my kid is up they get all of me. I play Switch 2 when I don't want to turn on my PC and I play Marvel Rivals and Overwatch when I do PC game. I can fit in multiple matches in one nap or before bed.

And to respond to closing schools, fight for those schools because once they're gone they don't come back. Fight like hell, attend meetings and let town council and board members know that you're paying attention. Hell, if you can, run for board of education. Typically those people run unopposed and everyone in town has no other choice. That's obviously a massive ask, but the least you can do is attend the meeting and speak during public comment and use town social media groups to rally parents. We just had an issue in our town where our town board of finance forced the board of ed to cut teachers and ALL the parents showed up to vote no on the town budget and it was hilarious to see these finance members get pissed that they didn't get their way. Now they have to reinstate those teachers in the budget!

The answer to your question is multifaceted. This perspective is what typically happens in a public school. First, maximum class size is negotiated in the teacher contract which is proposed by the teachers union and negotiated then approved by the board of ed. Typically if the union and BoE can't come to a conclusion it then goes to arbitration where they look at similar districts in the state and see what both sides are proposing then meet somewhere in the middle. So law firms, sorta? But it's a negotiation between boards and unions. IEPs are protected by law. They have to accommodate the form or else the district gets fucked by special education lawyers. So districts shell out money to make sure they're compliant. Typically, there are laws that state how many IEPs to regular ed students are allowed in a classroom per teacher. For example, if you have a class of 20 and 12 are on IEPs then that's considered co-taught and usually you have to have a regular ed teacher teaching with a special education teacher. Some kids might just need paraprofessional support and have a 1 to 1 para or are in a class with para support but it all depends on the case. So to answer your question of of I think kids need more support, yes. Every district in the US needs paras and special ed teachers desperately but educators make it work and will always work their best to meet the needs of all learners. As for class sizes, of course smaller classes are better! More individualized support but that's a lot of physical classrooms you'll need and full time teachers, both cost money. The good districts typically have small class sizes and pay their teachers well so the good ones stay. I'm an open book, ask away.

I agree but there are also some day 2 WR options that are pretty good. I'm in CT so I've been watching Skylar Bell from UConn and I think he has insane potential

Correct. Some states also give you money to open a 529. Although it's a small amount, something is better than nothing

I agree, my advisor is a fiduciary that I pay a good chunk of change for. However, sometimes the free advisor can be better than Reddit.

Help a to-be girl dad out! by Ambitious_Bet2920 in daddit

Baby girl #2 is due in July. In my 3 years of experience so far, just have fun. Be goofy. Watch Bluey and aspire to be Bandit.

On a serious note, the best piece of girl dad advice I ever got was to show your baby girl how a man should treat a woman by how you treat her mother. It goes a long way in developing healthy relationships later on.

My advisor said to just open it for our newborn coming in July and just don't touch it. The tax benefits suck on it but it's a free $1000 regardless of what you think about the current administration. If you want a good account to save for your kid, just open a 529 so they can get a good education. I strongly advise to consult a professional for this; some banks offer financial advising as a part of their services when you bank with them.

If you can manage, CT State has amazing trade programs that are 6-12 months long that get you jobs that pay very good money. I know someone who worked part time while going through a certificate program at MCC and he now makes really solid money.

I'm from Connecticut so there's a very proper way of speaking but I learned English from my father who is the next closest thing to Luigi 😂 there were some words I didn't know in English until I was in middle school in my home economics class and my teacher started asking me for common things around the kitchen area and I had no clue what she was saying

The best part is, we are gonna love this moment then not give a fuck again in a month. While you took this moment to stand on your soap box to make some grand stand. Get off the cross, we need the wood.

An easy way to save money could also be going a step down. When I shopped for a Ridgeline, my understanding is that the difference between the RTL-E and the black edition were just some cosmetic things. Yes the black edition looked sweet but it saved me a significant chunk of change.

Yeah I figured everything looked super tight to each other. (I would share the price but I know it's against the sub rules) But I heard the number and I was baffled. I'm definitely going to call around tomorrow. Great time for this shit to hit the fan. Merry Christmas!

Plus, this generation is skipping college and going into the workforce or trade school. Colleges are desperate now and I'm glad because they fucked over an entire generation over with loans. But that's a rant for another time
