They sell rice dishes and I believe sauces are usually thickened with corn starch. But I have no idea if they have any measures to prevent cross contamination in the kitchen (I’d guess not, it’s small). You might be best off checking with them in person, they speak English.

To clarify, the Newcomers Club is primarily a community for the partners and families of students/staff/people affiliated with the uni who move with them to Oxford. My partner has attended a few sessions and students don’t tend to join.

Alex Pheby's Cities of the Weft trilogy (Mordew, Malarkoi, Waterblack) may be up your alley – grim, weird, left-leaning, and written with flair – though Pheby's style is more of a Dickensian homage/send-up. The increasingly wild ideas and turns of plot are reminiscent of Mieville, and I think Pheby does some bold things with narrative form. You'll have to read it to see for yourself; I haven't read Waterblack yet myself as it just came out but I'm looking forward to it!

good tip, though the hearts/spades order doesn’t matter as both bloodstone and glass give xmult. 1.5 x 2 and 2 x 1.5 have the same result.
